The rear prop shaft on my Perentie is shagged so it is going to be sorted shortly. Does the rear shaft have a dust boot over the slip joint like the front one? The army parts manual does not show one, but would it be worth putting one on?

They don't have a dust boot. I assume the rear one is less exposed, but I'd be keen to know why it missed out??

Rangies were the same.
I always thought it was because the cavity faced forward on the front and therefore had a much higher chance of getting rubbish driven into it while driving forwards.

Just delivered the shaft to Hardy Spicer - it WILL have a boot when it comes back. The slip joint was stuffed, and BOTH universals stuffed as well. Total $500.

That's an excellent price. Wish I could find a similar service here in NZ.
