He has been charged for rape for something that happened 7 years ago. Given he was only 16 at the time and is now 23 if found guilty is he sentenced as an Adult or a Juvenile??

I believe people are charged and, if convicted, are convicted under the laws applicable at the time of the offence.

I'm surprised he has been named. Usually, if the defendant was a minor at the time of the alleged offence, then their identity is protected. At least, that's what appears to happen in NSW.

Given he is an AFL footballer it was probably going to be too hard to keep quite so its probably better to be open from the start about who he is:confused:
