I recently got some s/h mudshields for under the wings (mudguards) on my Series III but they are different to the ones that were fitted.

The latest ones have an extra piece let in to clear something (see picture).

The other side has the same extra piece let in (must have been for RHD or LHD).

The only clue is that the latest panels were from a later Series III LWB wagon. Maybe the extra clearance is needed for the booster ?
Mind you my shorty has a LWB booster but maybe these panels give a bit more clearance.

I'm guessing it is to clear the extra length of a dual circuit master cylinder.

That's all I could think of John but it already has a dual circuit master cylinder fitted so the original panel must be touching the master cylinder (or damn close)
I'll check it out when I go to fit it (once the rain has stopped).
