Had one of my posts sent to the railway part of the rabbit warren. Fair enough, I understand that. Now I see that post, & one other on railway matters, has been removed. Fair enough. The reason I went into the warren, to make a comment, is a mod, from memory, said all I do is post on General Chat. Takes a while for the penny to drop, nowadays, but I say to that mod, check my posts out. I certainly hope this forum is inclusive of all, & not a select few. Apologies if I'm wrong. Bob

I merged Bob's Steam Trains of Australia thread with an existing thread on the same subject. I left an expiring redirect so that Bob could find his post again. I thought I'd made it a 1 week redirect but it is possible that I hadn't selected "week" from the drop down menu and it may have resulted in a one day redirect.

I don't delete posts unless they are outside the rules for the forum.

Bob's post is here: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/railway-fans/199451-steam-trains-australia.html#post2176314

See the next few posts from V8Ian, Bob, and myself, in particular:

Thanks Ian, I know, but we have to give mods something to do, now the political threads have shut down.

and my reply:

The trouble is, Bob, that you only ever post in General Chat and we have to move so many of your posts. There are a lot of other sections to the forum. But you are not alone, many on the D3/D4/RRS section post all their stuff in that area instead of the correct area.

Not only that, Bob replied in the moved thread so he should have been able to find it again.

Thank you , this is what is up my nose. It's insulting. I post in technical chatter, & the D2 forum. And, I have been given, and given good advice in both. I do not disagree with your process, and indeed say you have done your job well. But do not accuse me of being just a general chat poster. Bob

Ron, there is no problem . Except my obstinate nature. No need to apologise , I'm just an old sailor, brought up in the bush, who would fight at the drop of a hat, but just doesn't realise I'm almost 66 years old. You keep doing your job, mate. All good, Bob

Bob - I actually think you post too much non relevant 4wd stuff and seems to me more like the stuff an old fella would write to the editor of the local paper HOWEVER I respect your right to do so as it does certainly meets the criteria of General Chat.

Maybe we need a special section covering Public Affairs Posts by Bob and Chucca. :)

But if the reason for removing your posts is the reason given in this thread then I think a rethink on this needs to be done.

If people do not like your posts then it is easy to pass over them as I tend to do BUT sometimes I do learn something and that has always got to be good.:)

No posts were removed, Gary. Bob's posts were merged with another thread on the same topic - something that happens quite often with other forum members, too.

We do not delete posts unless they fall outside the boundaries of decency, or they attack other members, or they are libellous/slanderous, etc. We certainly don't remove them because they are of no interest to us or we disagree with them.

Generally, posts that are moved to the correct area have an expiring redirect of usually a week, sometimes longer, so that people who posted in the original area can find the new location. In any case, one can easily finds one's own posts by clicking on the "Your Posts" menu item.

I read nearly all of Bobs posts and always find them interesting,,
but they dont always fit the GC bill,,
thats why we have other forums.
Bobs a big part of our site,, as long as he continues to post I'll be happy:D

General Chat would be really large without other Forums.

Garry, I love you like a brother, but. I have posted in the the technical chatter, & D2 forums, all the 4WD stuff, you need. Let me point something out, to all. Point out to me where it says 4x4 stuff here.

General Chat Almost anything goes, have a look and drop in a few lines. Think of it as a campfire chat with the kids around.

OK, where does that say, " 4wd" only. C'mon, you are sounding like a bunch of old farts, take the blankets off, get out of the chairs, & go with the flow. Flow with this, brother, Bob

thanks Saitch. No one can please everyone all the time. If I can make some one smile, occasionally , that will suit me. I will not back down from an argument, and I don't think because some one has more land rovers than any one else, doesn't make them special. I believe, if this site wants to remain relevant, in the years to come, it has to welcome all comers. And then , talk them over to the land rover side. It can be done. I will keep doing what I do, because I like to push the boundaries, and if you don't, you can, as a group, become , just a group of old farts, sitting around a camp fire, wishing for the old times. Bob posts that sort of thing in General Chat.
If you don't like it, don't read it. Simple.
No-ones got a gun to your head.
Am I the only one who can see your avatar Kermy?
If that's not holding a gun to my head, I don't know what is.

Your:mad:Cheesed off
I'm:confused:Confused:zzz:
:confused:Why do you need to post Crap that is on the TV, Radio & NewsPaper - allll the time (every day) just don't get it.
I frequent AULRO to read about 4x4 LR specific things.
And thanks to AULRO & it's members, I now own a:burnrubber:Defender & have spent $ with some of the Advertisers & Members:BigThumb:

Not looking for a:bat:just voicing my opinion on this & don't feel too special your not the only one that does this maybe just more frequently than others recently.

Hmm or your:ninja:employed by Aulro the generate traffic.

What an interesting post. Rubbish, actually. But, every one has an opinion, they are as common as arseholes. Hope you don't mind if I ignore yours. The opinion, I mean. However, if you have an intelligent thought, please post it, I will only be too pleased to read it. I have some 4WD Action mags. I bought early on , before I discovered AULRO. You can have them. Bob

From memory I remember RickOz original post.

Look at me, I want to spend lots & lots, look at me!

Oh well whatever makes you happy.

For me, it's LR and the people of this forum, with all their foibles.

It comes with the territory. If you own a land rover, you are obviously an eccentric, to a degree. Poor old Rick just don't get it, Bob

OK here we go......
Firstly Apologies to Dullbird, Bob10 and Ramblingboy.
Secondly: My explanation for Saturday nights rant:
As the regular viewers of General Chat probably know by now, all my posts are usually direct and to the point. (unlike what’s in my head right now)
That is just the way I am, however, on Saturday night/Sunday morning, things were a little bit different. Upon reading back my posts, it appeared that I was trying to provoke a reaction, or, start a 'cyber fight'.
On the 2nd on this month an Immediate family member passed away. I was fine during the week, it wasn't until the weekend when things went a little pear shaped. A combination of Jack D. and no sleep, created quite the chain of events.
This isn't a 'give me Flowers and Chocolates', or 'aww feel sorry for me' type deal, this is just a simple explanation, of my inner workings that led to the previous mentioned posts.
Andy G, you were half right. Sin bin, yes, Grapes of Sorrow, yes.
But add to that the Blood Bin.
Bob10, as we have discussed in the past, there isn't anything wrong with your posts. As you were Soldier.
Ramblingboy, don't worry about the **** I post.
Inc, credit to you for your seemingly unbiased attempt to explain post editing.
Ok, I think that's all.

Sorry Ian (and Everyone),
I was on a computer that was having Issues, and I had to type my comments in an Email program, then cut and paste.
When Pasted, the font looked way too big, so I reduced it.
Clearly too much. Sorry people.
Thanks Muppet, for 'Amplifying' the font.

Thanks for your wishes/support guys and gals.

M.:)
