Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and am contemplating the purchase of a D3.

From what I've read and researched so far it looks like some of them seem to be problematic and others seem fine, do you think this is a fair assumption?

Does anyone have any pointers on what to look out for?

I was thinking it'd be best to buy privately so I can have a chat to the owner about any problems they may have had; Check the service history and if possible talk to the mechanic who serviced it.

I'd also like to get it checked over by someone in Melbourne who knows D3's; anybody have any recommendations? I'm in SE melbourne.

Any pointers or advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Dale.

I've owned a couple of L/R's over the years, they are an enthusiast vehicle I believe. In saying that I mean you need to "know the vehicle" and look after it.

A lot of people just want a vehicle they can hop into, drive, drop off to get serviced and not really take any interest / notice of the mechanics of the vehicle. They should buy a Toyota!

What you want to buy is a L/R owned by an enthusiast, serviced properly and looked after. Being used off road is not an issue as long as it's treated with respect.

Good luck with your search, it's an awesome vehicle - it just needs looking after more than a Jap 4wd.
