Howdy,

its always concerning when your temp gauge moves up from normal, especially considering Ive replaced every component in the whole cooling system over the last three years. I had a quick squiz under the hood to find the coolant was down and then to find some coolant splatter over near the pump. Hard to see where exactly, but it appears to be leaking from the shaft as splatter is from the pully but yet to strip down to find out. Do the seals give issues.

With all the aftermarket parts available, are the range of waterpumps as dodge as the viscous fans, and is a there a preferred option for long life performance or ones to avoid? I dont mind paying genuine if its worth it but I hate wasting good time spinnin spanners due to dodgy parts.

I hope Im not in for cracked housing or worse.

The Spanish made Airtex (OEM) is the pick of the pumps.

Also remember to replace the P gasket behind that alloy housing the pump bolts to, check that the housing is dead flat and not warped before fitting the P gasket and source the updated cad plated bolts that go right through the housing into the block and tension to the revised bolt tension.

Cheers for the tip Rick130. Gasket sealant?? I normally use blue silicone but some suggest others? The 95 model 130 is up for a 200,000km service, I will remove radiator and fit Redarc water alarm as backup, are there any other recommendations while Im there. Timing belt and tensioner every 50 or 100k?

I just use the cardboard gasket with spray on Hylomar for the pump, I resist silicon wherever I can, I hate the stuff ! :D

Timing belt is 80,000km, but you can go up to 110,000 if the car has only ever seen road use in a very temperate area.
