Hi All,

We went for a day trip south to the coast yesterday, and on the way we called in at East Sussex to a place you may have heard of…

The Thatched Garage - Tune My Defender - The Man For Land Rovers

This is a family run business that sells second hand defenders, aftermarket parts including performance upgrades, and also does servicing and tuning.

I bought myself a Momo steering wheel and boss kit :D The patriarch of the business has quite an amazing collection of Defender models, toys etc in his office and this place is worth a visit if you are ever over here.

Once we were out of London and into the countryside, the number of Defenders seemed to directly correlate with the number of reciprocal Range Rovers we had seen in the big smoke :)

Cheers,
Nige

There is no doubt that the U.K. is "Defender Heaven"

I disagree, plenty of them and plenty for them but not as many opportunities to stretch their legs. After capturing mine in Africa and keeping it in captivity in the Uk for just over a year I bought it here with me to let it be back in its element.

Yes that's an interesting point. The guy at the shop instantly took an interest in us due to our accents. We had a good yarn about the defender scene in Australia.

He said a lot of the pommy locals buy defenders and spruce them up "all pretty like" and never take them off road. His grin went from ear to ear when my wife told him we took ours off road along some very muddy tracks into the mountains only the second day after we took delivery. I mentioned the forum and that I'd be posting about his shop, so he gave me a handful of little "TMD" stickers and a key-ring :)

We arrived in Belgium today. We are home to Australia in 9 days and even though I am loving the holiday, I can't wait to get home, fit the new steering wheel and get off road in the green wagon :D
