Been reticent to fork out the excessive (I think) cost for a digital radio.. however I finally succumbed and bought a $30 Aldi plastic crappe special a couple of weeks ago. The 2" tinny speaker sort of defeats the purpose, however the receiver stage is itself quite reasonable. So, taking a feed from the stereo headphone outlet I connected it to 30 yr old stereo amplifier and equaliser (Akai) which had been sitting in cartons for several years and hooked up some even older Wharfdale speakers units I'd built when corduroy trousers, hush puppy suede shoes and long sideburns were fashionable:angel::D Tuned the whole shebang to 4MBS -light (classical) in Bris. here and have not turned it off since... I've stopped watching TV,. my blood pressure has dropped 30 points...am in "classical music" pig heaven.

The clarity is amazing, better than the best FM. Just wondering how to hook another one (I went back and got a second one) to my P38 stereo... They're powered by a 5V DC so I can run it from a 5V USB car charger. I have a GROM iPod setup hooked in already and discovered it has an "aux" input...more distraction on the horizon! Possibly able to use a feed off the FM antenna connection to the Alpine head unit...

The receivers are indeed OK in those, I can pick up Canberra DAB stations from inside my garage. Unfortunately I fear that idevices , streaming from the web and time may pass the format by.
I've been listening to streaming audio from some US radio stations on my commute lately and the only downside is that they are in the wrong time zone.
( 107.7 The Bone in SF should you be an old fart that likes 80s rock)

I can bet those old wharfdales can produce a better sound than the plastic based equipment around now.
