Patsy and I took the chance today to take Sweetpea for a run in to the RACQ Motorfest which is as the name suggests a collection/ display of cars.
I as a little disappointed for a couple of reasons, the first of which being the fact that there were too many people there making it was almost impossible to see and admire all the 400 plus cars on display. I know that the organisers must be highly pleased with the numbers that turned up as far as the financial return side of things go ($2.00 entry fee), but from a finnicky old phart's (who doesn't really like crowds at the best of times) point of view, the crowd was too big for the venue.
We did a lap of the display taking in as much as possible in the five hours that we spent there but didn't see the lot.
There were about 6 million (or so it seemed) Ford Mustangs there, a bit like anuses, every one has one, hundreds of current model cars, which may well be someone's pride and joy, but let's face it, there were possibly even more of these types of cars outside in the car park!!!
No Land Rovers on display at all - There were two lovely examples coincidentally parked alongside each other in the car park - both 1950's, one early and one late example.

Below are a selection of a few cars that caught my fancy:
An early Triumph similar to the one Bergerac drove in the TV series way back.

A little Renault. This brought back some memories as back in 1966 these vehicles were everywhere on the streets of Vung Tau and Saigon as they were the local taxi cabs.

Whilst still in the Renault section I saw this great little example of design.

Couldn't go past one of my favourite makes of all times the Austin Healys.

Patsy was mumbling something about this SS Jag but I couldn't quite make out what it was she was saying.

I had to include this shot simply to point out just how ridiculous things have become in Australia of late.
There would have been about a few thousand at least people walking around the show, and this enclosed area was set aside for the smokers among us to enjoy there little puff. I fail to see any benefit whatsoever for the general public by limiting smokers to this little enclosure unless it is the "smoker" him/herself that we are afraid of and not the fumes that may escape the enclosure!

How many remember the Isuzu Bellett?

As I mentioned earlier there were a lot of different cars on show, quite a number of American imported stuff but it was very difficult to see the cars for the people.
Still a great day with lots of variety.
