So today we finally picked up our car...was it smooth sailing??
of course not!! because who says picking up a new car should be as simple as getting your keys signing the paper work and saying thanks and driving out with a grin on your face....
Anyway lets just say we have it now and hopefully its not a sign of things to come.:)
So while it looks like every new defender that gets delivered I have to post a picture because it didn't happen without pics right?!
Ironically first mod to be done will be meeting up with another member and swapping grills and headlight surrounds..I hate the black and he wants to the back:p Sweeeet!...Then the mods will happen as money becomes available.
There is a snorkel on the way, hoping to be able to buy some Nugget stuff on next pay day....and then it will be saving for some ridji stuff etc...
When I actually have something to show I will start a thread in members rides
Crappy photo I know but it was just about to go dark and the iphone is not the best in lowlight

Love the truck mate.
That colour looks perfect on a Defender I think.
I don't mind the grill etc. In black. Maybe one day I will get one second hand.

I wouldnt call us lucky...
because the last car was written off..due to us not realising that all of our accessories were listed as per part of the insurance agreement which did in fact change from when we first had it...(when only the bullbar and roof rack were listed)
We actually lost quite a bit of money:( so we have gone in to a bit of debt to get this car.. not much!!! but a bit...we are of the opinion well take it on the chin or we don't get one at all with them ending.
The biggest thing is we just dont have the money to put the goodies on it took along time to get the 110 how we wanted it..and I fear with the lack of funds we have the 130 will take just as long if not longer..
but I'm saving hard:)

Have the 130s always had the coloured lenses, or have they gone back to them?
My 2012 90 has the clear ones.

Luck, or no luck, doesn't matter now,...you have got one of the last 130s,...a classic, which you are going to appreciate for a very long time.

Go the Keswick 130. LR's finest moment in motoring history to release that vehicle colour combination. Totally biased.
Your story prompts me to update my insurance.
No doubt you have seen that Juddy has a rack for sale at a significant discount to RRP. After seeing Cammo's set up with the rack and RTT it's a great set up and good use of space.

If you unscrew the cubby box you will find a plug ready to accept a sub woofer
I'm trying to find a car radio place that can supply a pioneer sub that is the same as the LR one in the 90/110 and appropriate plug
(maybe someone here can help)
The radio is certainly 100% better with a sub the difference between SWMBO's 90 and my 130 is chalk and cheese when it comes to music at highway speeds
No adjustable headlights in 130 either
I haven't tried the dealer yet maybe the subs available as spare part probably cost an arm and a leg though
Enjoy your new 130 !!!!!!!

Nice one Lou,
Love the Keswick green and white roof combo.
The 130 also misses out on the rubber end caps on the front bumper, no big deal, but the holes are there in the steel where they get mounted. Can't quite see the holes in your pic, but the 130 I saw the other day had them.

Went to auction and got bought Pat...
The Keswick is def a colour to be appreciated in the flesh Pat I don't know if you have seen one in the flesh or not as a colour it doesn't photograph well at all. Although if you dislike it that much then you possibly still wouldn't like it in the flesh I feel the same way about the red.
If it was an option I would of had the 130 in Nara bronze anyway but alas not an option. :)
I asked Ian whether he felt there was ad difference between the 130 engine and the 110 he said he hasn't driven it much to really say he feels the mid range feels a bit better spread I think he means smoother but other than that he can't really say.

I only don't like Keswick because everyone wants it,even in the UK it's the most wanted color,Roto Plastics in Perth make a really good poly tank that fits neatly across the head board that will give you a nice increase in fuel capacity, they make some neat looking water tanks that fit under the tray also. Nice looking 130 mate. I was tossing up on the 110 or the 130 but due to the doubts on colours and ordering I went with the safe option of the 110. I'm keen to see all this unfold in regards to the extras as I too will be loading up when the funds allow it.

Great car and congratulations, I am sure it will bring you years of pleasure. I too have thought about getting one of the last ones and the dealer showed me a 130 (i was thinking of a 110) but I noticed the fuel tank breather appears to have gone back to the short looped thing on the right hand side of the car unlike my 110 (2008) which had the breather coming our the left side and easier to extend higher up. Is yours like this? .Why would they revert to that design when it was a source of problems?

Nice 130 Dullbird. I like the colour.
Looking forward to the meet and greet (and swap of bits).
I'm in the process of putting a black 'mask' and amber indicator lenses on my Keswick 110, as I also prefer the 'old school' look, but from my experience I would recommend swapping the complete grille assemblies including the frame, if Keswick Green is consistent from batch to batch. I had to buy a set of panel pullers to pry the grille from the frame, then with only two studs removed, I had to stop and order a replacement set, because they're getting a bit mangled in the process. My car looks rather weird as a result; it currently has black headlamp finishers on it and a Brunel grille; a sort of 'raccoon mask'. Hopefully the studs will arrive in the next couple of days and I can get the grille swapped out.

The idea of swapping out the complete assembly is unfortunately off the table… I had a freak incident while off road, where a large stick punctured the little metal "mesh" type section of the assembly, just between the bumper and the bottom of the plastic grille. I've performed mild first aid on it, but I can't expect someone to swap their new section for my damaged section.
I've already sourced new plastic studs ready for the swap, and some touch-up paint to complete the repair once I've fully straightened the damaged bit whilst the grille is off.

You sound more organised than I was, but if you don't have a set, some plastic panel pullers would be a good idea. I had to insert the panel pullers between the grille and frame from the back, around the studs, and gently pry them apart one at a time, working around the grille. I've only loosened mine so far, because I realised I was going to need new studs. However, I have completely pulled out the two bottom corner studs, as they were the only ones I could fit a panel puller under from the front, but they still take quite a lot of effort to separate. I'm going to continue to work on the others until they're most of the way out, then probably have at it from the front with pliers to remove them. Those plastic studs are even nastier than the self-tapping screws that most of the other trim seems to be held on with.

It looks like it's a few screws along the top edge & a couple on the side to remove the panel assy.

Do the above (apart from the cutting bit...)
Remove the grill panel. 4 self tappers along the top and 2 large screws, one in each side.
Then turn it over put it face down, and press the plastic tree clips out from the back with a spoon or maybe tap them out gently

I finally completed my grille swap this afternoon and I found it to be a lot harder than that. I had to partially pry the grille and frame apart with a panel puller tool, working from the back and the inside of the grille to avoid damaging the paint on the grille frame. That result of that is that the heads of the studs are poking out at the front, allowing you to pull them out with pliers. A few gentle taps with a hammer, from the back, also helps with any stubborn studs.
I can also confirm that there's no way to cut the studs off. They actually grip into the grille frame and only support the grille in place, so you have to pull them out of the grille frame itself. Unfortunately, I put a couple of nicks in the Brunel grille with the pliers in the process, so be very careful if your intention is to sell or swap parts. Placing some masking tape around the studs might help. You also need to be careful not to damage the paint on the grille frame with any tools.
Incidentally, when you replace the bottom two studs above the mesh section in the grille frame, they are quite tricky to push in; you have to support the grille frame from underneath or it flexes downward as you apply pressure.

Hi. First post on the thread here. Hello everyone. I am in the same scenario. My 2010 110 was side swiped and written off. The a frame and firewall was compromised, so they wrote it off. We had no finiance on it.
I had a tone of extras on it, but the assessor allowed me a day to take the items off. Bull bar, winch, lights, drawers, ladder, roof rack etc
That said, I lost the new coopers I had on, snorkel, the engine gear etc.

The start of the Ernest Giles Rd in the NT was a shocker when we were there last month. The first real corrugation I had experienced. The kids and wife seemed to be fine and I think holding the steering wheel makes it feel worse. The end of the Boggy Rd along the Finke was also worse again. Glad I got to experience it but happy it wasn't for any longer then 1hr at each end. Gave me much more respect for the Defender. My sunvisor fell off the roof but no loose bolts to report. A Ford Ranger that was with me had two loose suspension bolts and lost a fuel tank bolt.

(by me!)
http://www.aulro.com/afvb/90-110-130-defender-county/198759-another-keswick-wagon.html
seems an extremely popular colour nowdays... I like it with contrast roof..
(I like darker green with white roof though also)... I like the 130 but the minister for war and finance insisted on 7 seats, my suggestion for a dickie seat in the tray was "poo pooed" so a wagon it is!
Nice vehicle, I think the way they treat them as a commercial vehicle and strip bits out of production but still charge equivelent is woeful!
would my late my12 have the fitting for the subwoofer or is it too early
