I received a call from my nephew who was at an auction at Razorback this afternoon. He spotted these and the rest is history. From a quick look after dark when we got home, chassis on both appear in very good condition.
The green one has a red motor and I would say a new battery and some plug leads and it will start

The silver one has lots of bits but the engine bay is a bit more tragic but the upside, the original engine and most parts are included,

Did you start a tub of clothes in the washing machine before she got up?
I did.
Those old Landies look to be a good find, well done.

Ha Ha. Good suggestion Arthur...trouble is she gets up before me in the morning...
And she reckons I wouldn't have a clue how to use the washing machine...
Lucky she is a tolerant woman!!
And yes, it was a good find!

We have a busy schedule this week and haven't had time to go over the Series1's. They have a lot of bits, but there is also a fair bit missing.
The sliver one is a 51 model (4733) 166809XX and the green one is a 53 model 366608XX
I intend to restore the silver one (the one without wheels in the pic)
My aim is to strip one down and get restore it to original mechanically and all parts not seen (chassis, under body, under bonnet, but leave it in a used state body wise (plenty of pushing and shoving and straightening of panels will be required, but I like the likes of the moss on bonnet. Just a few thoughts at this stage.
There was also a going 2a sold at the same auction to another Land Rover tragic for $350.
Some earlier pics

I think a real bargain was a complete Furphy water cart, both ends with taps and lid, complete cart and original wooden drawer bar etc etc for just on $3k

Good pick up, they both seem pretty straight panelwise.
Glad you decided to restore the 51, That makes 7 vehicles that I know of between 16660700 and 16661000. klonk is 166608xx.
I like the look of the full grille better. Lots of work ahead.
 Cheers Steve.

The 51 came with the full grille with the head light holes. The attached Land Rover badge has yellow lettering - not sure if that is original?
BTW, I have been reading your post - about half way through - brilliant!
