G'day guys,
I was chatting to a lad at work the other day as he just put in a new chip and had his exhaust upgraded on his new Land Cruiser ( runs like rocket now! ) so I was wondering if any of you guys have had similar work done to your Landys?
I've a 110 on order and should be in the drive way in Jan, 2015 and not that I want a rocket ship 4x4... I'm sure some extra push along the highway would help... Yes/no?
Cheers guys,
ak.

a stock 2.2 is pretty good without any mods. You may also want to consider waiting for the warranty to run out before modding the engine as most certainly Land Rover will use those mods as an excuse to avoid any warranty issues in the drive train.
As it happens I just did a full mod kit on my Td5. the problem I had was that since buying a second defender with the 2.2, the old Td5 felt like a slug. But the remap and exhaust mods have made it actually faster than the 2.2! I have a steep hill near where I live that I compare vehicles on - flat out before the mods - the Td5 struggled to make 60ks' up it. The 2.2 manages about 80ks. The new td5 topped 90 before I let off.
The only disadvantage is that noise is loud enough to scare small children and the elderly.... (But makes me smile in a way I've not smiled since my old Range rover with headers and a 3" system.)

I've been waiting for someone to talk about chipping their 2.2 on here, but haven't seen anything yet. From what I have heard a bench tune is the best that can be done.

Thanks guys. I'm thinking I'll wait until I drive it for a month or 3 to make up my mind. As mentioned I'm not after a race car and I have been told the new 2.2 engine is the best yet... It's more the highway pick up that'd be handy.
