Hi All,
I've recently joined this forum. I'm a semi-retired engineer and part time farmer living in Central Victoria. I've had 2 enjoyable years in a D3 HSE and have recently changed it over to a much younger D4 SDV6 3l. I'm planning a Central Australia & NW trip next year and want to fit suitable tough tyres (also tyres which will cope with my winter on-farm mud conditions). I'm aware of the GOE 18 inch rims as one step to unlocking a suitable range of tyres. The light truck construction (in Cooper) however starts at 275 65 R18 and the GOE website lists some useful data on tyre sizes and outlines mods to prevent interference with this tyre size. The text appears to be mainly about RRS with only vague statements about D4. Can anyone assist me with more detailed information on this size tyre on a D4? I am considering adding LLAMS, but in the event of a suspension failure, do these tyres clear everything when the suspension is on the bump-stops or what limitations or mods are required?

Do a search on the forum for Bridgestone LT265/60-18 as they've been getting good reports.

I've got a set of the Bridgestones on my D3 - so far so good, taking 'em to the Flinders Ranges area next September... LT construction is the go in that area - IMHO - check 'em out here...

The bridgestone D697 seems to be the only real LT choice for the 18" wheels in a size with no compromises with rubbing etc.

What about BFG AT LT-construction LT265/65R18?

The GOE site suggests these will fit:

Green Oval Experience Land Rover training, Range Rover modifcation (http://www.greenovalexperience.com/#!18-inch-rims/cglk)

These are however 38.6mm taller (diameter) than standard (255/55/19), so would not be legal in NSW without engineering...

The GOE site mentions the RRS more often because the RRS is more restrictive than the D4. You need less mods on a D4.

Might be best to check with the RTA on what's legal now re tyre sizes as they recently accepted the National standards which allows larger tyres than the old NSW limits I believe.
