So, Bob, getting a good crop this year?

Josie has a lot of opinion:

Josie the Outlaw is an anarchist, activist and promoter of the ideas of voluntarism, self-ownership and a stateless society.

But it does not alter the the fact that tis a interesting point of view with it would seem at times some valid points

Especially now days when long established rights and freedoms are being eroded rather quickly

Didn't say it wasn't. The video you posted up was clearly supporting those growing cannabis farmers.

The one I posted, well, I don't need to explain that one.

Interestingly, at christmas a policewoman told me she was about to shoot me because she didn't know if I had a concealed weapon or not. She said she pulled me over because I had a bent number plate. I'd say she watched too much American TV.

Interestingly, I was pulled over about six months later for a random breath test. I asked the policeman if he thought the number plate was bent. "No." he replied, "I've seen worse."

It does make you wonder it the right sort of people are getting placed in the right positions.

They were a great series of reports, Baz.
I would rather live in a society with gun control than without.

She makes some interesting points, but spoken like someone who is yet to experience fear or oppression such as described in historical references.

Yes, Police do have a choice, but that choice is made when an Oath is sworn or affirmation given to 'act without fear or favour, malice or ill will....'. Not to say that 'keeping the peace' is blind and relentless, but I guess you do it, or do something else.

Many of the newer legislation is a political response to new threats to the communities freedom, which is a far greater freedom of the individual. Everyone has rules to live by and her direct comparisons from Stalin and Nazi regimes to the examples of laws in the US are just emotional crap. We use words like 'nazi' and 'fascist' without any knowledge or appreciation of living under that rule - it's pretty juvenile and offensive.

I think Josie needs to get a job, a mortgage, perhaps some property some scumbag would like to take off her, and perhaps a family to protect, and then she might see things a bit differently.

Australia and the US are absolutely nothing like many oppressive neighbouring countries - if she got a passport and travelled our world she might realise that too .

Good on you Josie, you made your point, you're on the internet - go live a good and constructive life instead of whinging about it.

Matt.

When police become makers and interpreters of the law you have a 'Police State'.

If it's OK for police to refuse to act because they don't like a law then it becomes acceptable for them to act because they think something should be law. There is no difference between the 2 situations.

Very interesting point to ponder

If one looks at the historical origins of police forces, the first force established by Robert Peel, hence the slang term "peelers", was established to protect the rich and their property from the depradations of the poor during the beginnings of the industrial revolution when many of the agricultural population were forced out of their living by the Enclosure Acts and the clearances and moved to poverty in the expanding mill towns. Then you have situations that grew in places like Queensland where the police force was politicised, received favourable treatment, and became the armed wing of the Country Party, now the LNP, and the state is moving back to that distasteful situation.
