I noticed my power steering fluid is around the low level on the reservoir. What are people using to top theirs up? It definitely isn't ATF like the Japs/Australian cars use, I'm assuming it's hydraulic oil as is frequently used on ZF power steering setups (Audi, Volvo, etc)?

Would be good if it is, seeing as I have some on the shelf!!

The workshop manual specifies Texaco Cold Climate Fluid 33270.

Here is an old thread - might have some clues.

Hey Rich - how are your brake pads? As they wear, the pistons go further out which drops the brake fluid level. Sorry if I'm telling you "how to suck eggs"! :D

Brake pad wear won't have any effect on the power steering fluid level though. ;)

We have one those where I work. It's called "spend too much time on forums and browsing the net during office hours, and we sack you, you lazy bugger" :D

And back on the original topic, I've just bought the Penrite semi-synthetic PAS fluid today, so I can drain and refill my D3's power steering.

Penrite make PAS fluid to suit LR.
1 Litre containers. I got it from a Repco store.
Internet search for "Penrite PAS fluid" pulls it up.
