I all, I am very interested in buying a Freelander 2 Diesel Auto and would like to find out when the first DPF was fitted. The info I have found on the Net points towards MY11 (Late 2010 Build) being fitted with a Diesel Particulate Filter in Aus. Is this correct ?

Not sure if earlier models have but mine certainly does. It's an SD4, dec 2010, referred to as a 2011 model. Only had one time it wanted an oil change early as it had run a particular dpf cycle too much and oil diluted with fuel. That's what the workshop handbook said anyway. Took it in and mechanic said oil did smell a bit like diesel so wise choice to listen to car. No problems with it since and having a service at 60K in a week.
Although a bad diesel fill in Milicent on a trip left the back of the car covered in black specs. Took ages to clean off and fuel economy dropped for that tank significantly too but all good since.
Cheers

I'll have to check the book but I seem to recall reading in the manual that our 2008 model has a dpf - cleans itself on longer runs by getting sufficiently hot to burn up the soot particles - we only ever get a bit of a cloud if you really floor it (especially near cold)

Stick the VIN into Topix & will will advise whether it has a DPF or not.
