Hi all, I am planning, finally, to get the caravan out for the first time since getting my Discovery back in Mar. I rang the dealership to get the towing mirrors ordered and they informed me that the current towing mirror designed for the MY14 didn't pass the Australian Standards so they couldn't import them. If anyone out there has any advice on what is a good fitting towing mirror that will fit the MY14 Discovery, it would be appreciated! Also, any general tips / points on using the Discovery as a tow vehicle would be greatly appreciated. The van is 2500kg loaded and is probably as eager as me to get moving again.
Cheers

I purchased a pr of the Milenco's. Great mirrors, and there are plenty of recommendations about their attachment mechanism and testing under all sorts of conditions. 200 klms later the drivers mirror did a slow motion tumble to the road. They hadn't been tested on W.A roadtrains, coming at you without lane separation. 100kmls an hour each way.
That sort of force removes windscreen trims, and makes short work of mirrors.

Hello Stotty Monoster,
I posted some information on the Milenco Aero 2 Mirrors a couple of years ago when I first fitted them to my MY11 D4.
See the link below and look for posts from NTB.

Some people have found that they blow off from passing road trains etc. I have the Milenco Aero 2 and not the Milenco Grand Aero which is larger. I have never found them to blow off yet and have just completed a trip to Central Australia and back passing many road trains.
I hope this helps.

Apparently milenco grand aeros, along with the milenco v pads, work well on MY14 mirrors.

Thanks for the info, I ended up getting the Grand Aero's and I hope that I don't have an Admiral experience whilst out and about towing.

Hi all,
I returned from my trip away with the caravan and I must say the Milenco Grand Aero mirrors performed without fault. I didn't quiet like the mounting brackets that were supplied so I contacted Milenco and below is what they informed me as the normal mounts won't exactly fit:
The list below details exceptions where you need to purchase alternative components to convert your Aero Mirror to fit to the following vehicles.
Car Modification required
Land Rover Discovery 2014 4220 Falcon Mirror Clamps
Range Rover 2014 4220 Falcon Mirror Clamps
Range Rover Sport 2014 4220 Falcon Mirror Clamps

Admiral, I didn't have any blow ins or mirrors going on their own way but I must admit I did hold on to them when the big trucks were coming head on for the first few times.
My new brackets have arrived today; however, I have not tested them as yet. I brought two sets so if anyone from the Perth area would like a set, feel free to pick them up, just send me a PM!!! These can't be purchased in Australia yet but Dometic are going to have them within six months as I informed them that they are selling a product without the correct mounts, they weren't even aware of the MY14 mod list from Milenco? Hope this helps any other MY14 owners looking for a great towing mirror.

Hi Stotty,
Do you need the pads only for the 2014 onward mirrors, I have a 2013
and wasn't sure if I needed the pads as well,
Thanks

Jack, I believe that the 2013 only requires the VPads to enhance the holding capabilities. The new mounts only pertain to the 2014 MY14 Discovery as they changed the mirror design.
Hope this helps?
