G'day fellow Land Rover lovers,

I recently acquired Herb (From the HRB496 numberplate) out of local sentimentality. He was parked at a wrecking yard in Cooma but the faded writing on the doors included the words "A J Lewis Dalgety" and I decided to save some local motoring history. Herb needs lots of work and I might be turning to you for advice along the way.

Here's Herb with the rest of the family - my wife's Freelander 1 is out for the day.

Very nice , was that from Flynns at Cooma. I remember going there years ago , so much cool stuff. By the way if you see Keith & Jan down at 'Buckleys crossing' can you tell them Doug says Hello.

Thanks everyone for your messages. Doug, it wasn't Flynn's it was the old M&T yard on Polo Flat Road. I'll certainly say hi to Keith and Jan when I see them next.

Hey George

I am down there with Geoff from time to time and if there is anything I can help with I would only to happy to assist. I have been around Land Rovers since 1967 when the only vehicle that could make it in safety up the top of Dads farm was a neighbours early 50s Land rover. The Toyota Landcruiser he had from 1965 just could not cut it in the steep country. That is why I have always loved the old Landies.

Hi Bundy, I'd love to take you up to see Herb when you're next down with Geoff. I was the owner of his blue Series III 88" and as much as I like Geoff I still regret selling it to him!
I fell in love with Land Rovers in the early 70's. Arthur Gathon's yard on Forest Road Penshurst was up the road from where I trained fro football and I would stand outside the yard imagining that one day I would own one. I've never lost the passion. By the way there's a bloke who drives around Cooma with a sticker on this Defender that says "Land Rover because everything else sucks". You would probably agree!
