Hey all,

Just purchased a Garmin Oregon 450 and was wondering ....
Has anyone got the Oztopo V6 running on a handheld?
I'm interested to know if the 1:25000 looks good and if the tracks/cleared lines in the western deserts are all there and at what resolution they start to display? Also, is it a genuine 1:25000, or are they just putting perfume on a pig and magnifying the Natmap 1:100000 raster?

I don't want to be forking out $200+ just to realise that OT V6 isn't any better than Garmin topo ANZ 1:100000.

.... a little knowledge is such a dangerous thing!

Cheers,
Daryl.

I'll answer my own question ...

As far as I can determine, there are small differences in the OzTopo V6 compared to Garmin Topo ANZ V4, at least in the locality that can be seen from the OT V6 Demo, i.e. that the V6 contour lines drop from 20mtr resolution to 10mtr, whereas the finest contour resolution of the Garmin V4 map is 20mtrs. There are other minor differences, but nothing that will make me part with more of my hard earned, particularly since I'm only looking at using this for desert trips, at this stage.
Hope this may help someone.

Cheers.
