Not much of a Jeep fan but i currently have a brand spanking new SRT in the drive that a female friend of ours wasnt able to drive home last night.
So i did the decent thing and offered to drive her home in her car and return it in the morning.
Got some balls but i really dont like the cramped dash and the glare from the lcd screen is annoying, i could get used to the heated seats though:o.

The SRT is an absolute weapon, 346KW of Hemi power sees to that, if that is what you want, & for the $s they are an absolute bargain.....nothing else comes close with that sort of grunt......and they handle pretty well at speed, on the bitumen too.
Ain't saying they compare off the road with ANY LR product though, fact is very few of 'em will see the dirt anyway,...horses for courses I suppose.
I believe there is a very long waiting list.

One of the blokes in our office has a black SRT - wicked looking bit of gear. Has big "nostrils" in the bonnet, large wheels & licorice strip tyres etc.

Not something that I'd really consider taking off the bitumen - but he's just done the Gibb River Road with it, and towing a decent size camper trailer. Surprisingly good fuel economy for the big Hemi V8 towing a trailer - but if you don't push it, the engine "de-rates" and runs on less cylinders.

He had to have a couple of tyres flown in to Kununurra - he destroyed one and had plugged another, and you couldn't find anything to fit up that way. But they went up overnight and he was on the road again the following day.

I like 'em - but would I replace the D4 with one ??? Not likely. ;)

If you want to give her a fright, ask her to price a replacement headlight assy ( only one will do ) at her local dealer.

Dumb question. Is this similar to the 20" wheeled version of Grand Cherokee that were having so many stability problems in the Teknikens Värld magazine's Elk (Moose) Test?

Jeep Grand Cherokee fails elk test? Full analysis: UPDATED 15/08/2012 | L2SFBC (http://www.l2sfbc.com/rmp/blog/jeep-grand-cherokee-fails-elk-test-rollover-moose-test)

I know it is an unlikely scenario in any case, but was talking to someone on Friday who was thinking of buying one and they were reticent to lay down their money if it was still a problem. Anyone know if they got the stability issues sorted out on those upper specced GC's?

Yes, just like an old Torana.

Yes a nice road weapon but not an offroader, absolutely no ground clearance at all. When i was driving this lady home (hot single blonde by the way :) , she is telling me to fang it on a nice straight bit of road ;)

One of the blokes? I thought only girls bought Jeeps these days. (Or at least that's what their advertising has me believing).

Anyone know if they got the stability issues sorted out on those upper specced GC's?It was reported as having been fixed. IIRC there are references in another AULRO thread.

Is that the 'fix by Jeep' where they put ~200kg less than GCM and then did a less strenuous test in Germany to satisfy the pundits - or did they actually fix it. I will have a look later on the forum.

Found this link online.

Updated 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee aces same controversial moose test it failed in 2012 [w/video] - Autoblog (http://www.autoblog.com/2014/01/02/updated-2014-jeep-grand-cherokee-passed-controversial-moose-test-video/)

Good news is that the brand new 2014 model passes the test, but looks like the older version tested (2011-13 model) has not been sorted yet. Time will tell.
