Hello all,

There is a writeup/review on the 2014 Discovery 4 in the latest issue of Pat Callinan's magazine. Pretty good writeup by Ian Glover.

I might put up a pic of it later - but I will check the forum rules first.

So I couldn't see anything that suggests this would not be acceptable. Mods please delete if it is.

I would hope that all this does is encourage people to go and buy the mag, which is a great read.

Thanks

Think this car used at the LRE in sydney in April.

Edit: nah, was black interior. This one has almond doh. Not the same car.

He also has a new online free magazine:
Unsealed 4X4 | where the adventure begins (http://www.unsealed4x4.com.au/)
Sadly it does not have the D4 in it but none the less it's not a bad read.

Generally a good write up. I thought he was a little disparaging though, with his comments on the Disco buyers never using the vehicles capability. He needs to log onto AULRO and see what owners are actually doing with their Disco's.

I will have to find the mag but am wondering if the one he tested had the standard 19" tyres and rims

If you watch Pats videos he is heavily supported by Nissan so you wouldn't expect a totally unbiased review.

I did buy one of his CDs but was disappointed as it seemed like i was watching an advertisement for various products.

His magazine dud seem better at the beginning, I will checked it out though.

My main concern with my D4 is the 19" tyres and towing. Love to see a test on that

No, and it has always amazed me when you look at the other mags and their so called 4WD of the year shootouts. When you consider the proportion of buyers going to a 4x4 principally as a tow vehicle..and they don't test it towing !!?

However, you will see tow tests of 4WD's in the caravan mags. Not as comprehensive, but they are an indicator. Caravan World has one tester using a D3 for regular tow testing. ( I would say it is his vehicle )

When his magazine started, he had an editorial charter, which outlined the magazine policy to advertisers etc. i haven't looked, it may still be in the mag somewhere. From memory they won't brook interference with their editorial comment from advertisers. While the videos give a good ( and constant ) plug to his trip sponsors, I cannot recall any obvious bias, and the magazine has always been good and fair in it's presentation. LR products have seen a pretty good shake. I can recall the Defender and early series Landies in feature articles in his mag.

Still the best mag out there in OZ 4x4 IMO.

I was referring to a DVD of his I bought. The mag dies seem a bit more informative but I have only read one.

Time for another I guess :)
