bet this pulled a few in expecting something shocking....

well I have to DAMPEN your enthusiasm now

I put new dampers in the front in May after my trip....it made a lot of difference.

today I replaced the rears.

to say it made a difference is an understatement.

road noise down appreciably, ride comfort up, no more thumping noises.

driving up/down the M1 at 110 is just superb......again.....but dam , it loves to go faster.

so, bottom line is if you think your vehicle is driving a bit noisy or harsh have a good look at your dampers.....shocking isn't it.

for a few hundred bucks the difference is worth it.

can't wait to get back out on the Strez.....

This afternoon I fitted a new viscous fan.

I was STUNNED by how much quieter and smoother the engine is or appears.

The old one had been locked about 18mths ago following some cooling problems.

I can hear the exhaust note now , couldn't hear it over the roar from the old fan before.

Next....engine mounts and harmonic balancer.

Do you know where you can get the harmonic balancers from?

I fitted a new fan recently to, it's so quiet I can't hear it. Which is good in some ways, but I did like knowing when it was on.

Sent from my GT-I9305T using AULRO mobile app

Benji, British Off Road can get one for you , either new or a good 2nd hand one.

Mind you, they're not cheap.

Surely you can find a supplier down there?

Try MR Automotive at Redcliffe :) often as good in prices as BOR, I buy from both,BOR for Terra Firma and Dobinsons springs, more progressive than King's, my D1 has Repco Max-Trak shockers and I am quite happy with them, just dropped the centre muffler out of the D1 TDI, fuel use dropped from 10ltrs per 100 down to 8ltrs for the trip down to G.C.LRO club meeting last night at late afternoon, from Bribie to Labrador and return, very happy,it's get up and go has returned :)
