View Full Version : Wipers - the mundane :(

Guess anyone who drives a Deffie or a Series has issues with the wipers :(

My issue is with the blades. Thinks it is simply a fact that here is not enough leverage from spring. Have installed new blades, then new blade holders with blades. In all cases everything works well for a little while but then the blades really just skim/smear :( Maybe I'm a bit too picky???

Did see on a pommy site somewhere mention of a particular set of blades that apparently work very well on Landy flat screens.

Any "KNOWLEDGE"

Cheers

Yeah have the same issue here but find it is only a real problem in light rain/mist/spray situations, once the sky opens properly they do a good job.

I haven't got them myself but had my eye on picking up a set of these Silblade® Silicone Wiper Blades (http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/silblader-silicon-wiper-blades.html) next time I am in the UK... but at $30ish each (!) they are pricey. Maybe a US based supplier would be cheaper?

I always found that using RainX on the windscreen did a good job of helping out the crappy Defender wipers.

agree with the rainex. cleaning the crud off the blades when you clean the screen is a good move. Don't forget to replace rainex regularly and it assists with getting the bugs off.

Try these blades. I have them on my Defender and they are an improvement IMHO.

Have you thought of getting new wiper arms? that way you get fresh springs that keep the blades on the screen.
