Land Rover Defender | eBay
"restored" series V8, 1965.
station wagon (with a tailgate not a door)
obviously pretty valuable in the US!!
(there are a heap of others too, including a 2014 "urban warrior" defender)

That's a bargain Digger, have a look at this one :) I posted it in the Series section but I don't think many have seen it.
Purchase used 1970 Land Rover 109 SIIA Dormobile VERY RARE and VERY COMPLETE in Aurora, Colorado, United States, for US $159,000.00 (http://www.2040cars.com/Land-Rover/Defender/1970-land-rover-109-siia-dormobile-very-rare-and-very-complete-685098/)
I wonder if I could get a bit less for mine and get a quick sale :D

I often wonder at the silly money some people will pay, or try to sell Land Rovers for. I saw a pretty nice, well looked after 1969 Series II in Unique Cars (July 24 edition) which sold for $10,500 at the Mecum auctions in Seattle, Washington.

In the US it is one of the only ways that you can get a Series/Defender shape vehicle for use.
After all they have no problem in putting big block 572 V8 into cars no safer than a HQ Holden and registering them.
IMHO if that is the price in that market good for them. We should keep our "tell I'm he dreaming" comments related to our own parochial Orstraalyan market.
(Notice that even a Series IIa is now being called a Defender)
