Hey guys
I have to replace the timing chain and tensioner etc and the WS manual I have says to replace the timing cover as well???. Anyone done this yet. reason being the vehicle is on an Island in Vanuatu so I have to take everything I need with me. Seeing as its plastic maybe it does not come off straight.

Thanks

I have done a couple and the timing cover on a puma is metal not plastic and yes you do have to replace it if you remove it as it is very thin metal and the sealant used to hold it on is very strong and it bends in all sorts of weird and wonderful ways upon removal. So definitely take a new one with you.

Hey mate sorry for late reply. The sealant is stc50990 the genuine land rover stuff it's the only thing I trusted not to leak.

No problems is it a silicone based product as I fly out tomorrow night so will have time to pick up something here, maybe a Loctite gasket sealer etc.

Try ford if you can't find it. Ford used to do a kit it came with the cover new chain and tensioner and the sealer.
