Hi All
Headin to SX from Perth at 4am later this month. I'll be careful but are there any notorious stretches I should be extra wary of?
Thanks for any advice.
Cheers James

We've done it a couple of times, James, starting at 5am but dark and sun rising on the road to Northam, the road to Northam would be the worst as it is somewhat winding but if your lighting is good and you are careful shouldn't be a problem.
I don't enjoy driving at that time but some times it needs to be done.
Cheers

Yes - agree with Richard. You're more likely to see roos between Perth and Northam than further up the road. Once you get out into the wheatbelt, you rarely see any.
The real problem areas are further out - from Southern Cross to Kalgoorlie, and particularly around Bulla Bulling.
I quite often head off home at around that time of the morning and rarely see any roos. It's the night time trips where I see them the most.

As Brian said around Bulla Bulling is the worst. The 2 worst areas I have seen travelling are Bulla Bulling area and the Caiguna area on the Nullabor. Some morning look like a killing fields.
However as long as you are vigillant in a 4wd with a bull bar should not be too bad. The majority of the strikes are by trucks that just plow on through. Having said that we have driven both these areas many times and never hit a roo. The ones I have hit have been in areas you dont really expect too.
