After much discussion, she who must be obeyed has decided that we will keep the Rangie.

She has even agreed to loosen the purse strings to let me do the things that need doing.

Im not sure if its a full moon or not, but im grabbing it both hands and going berserk.

First thing is i need advice on one of those reader computer things and which one to buy.

Mate, I decided on a nanocom because it is self contained and highly portable

Options include the Hawkeye, Lynx, nanocom and faultmate

This section is worth a read

If you have an Android smart phone or an Android tablet, for the princely sum of $5 or there abouts you can download the Torque Pro app. Buy a Bluetooth dongle with an OBD2 (onboard diagnostic) plug from ebay for around $25 and you can get a lot of info... this is a good cheap way to get started. When you begin to reach the limits of the Torque app. And you decide to get serious about the P38, then spend on the Nanocom etc...just a suggestion. If you have an iPhone there are similar apps.
Cheers

DashCommand works well for the Apple devices

You can only get engine ECU info from this interface but it is a good start

I run mine on spit and string and have learnt everything off this and other forums.
You will pick up an encyclopedical knowledge and, like me, if you don't know, someone on here will.
I keep promising myself a nanocom but even after 10 years of ownership I haven't done it yet...
I've found that if you keep on top of the servicing, everything else can be fixed, cobbled back together or just plain ignored ;-)

"et tu Brute";) when you are no longer defined by where you have had to be on Monday mornings for the past 50 yrs one needs to fill the gap... AND keep a discrete distance so that one is not under SWMBO's feet...:wasntme:P38s are less frustrating and safer than golf:D
