Bit surprised you can't charge the battery while in the case .$18 with free postage for a new case 5 minutes with the Dremel:o Might have to use the skeleton back cover if heat is an issue but not really much different to a mobile phone so probably not a problem

but now the camera is neither Waterproof or Dustproof , so virtually useless. they only take 5 seconds to remove from case - can't figure out what possible reason you would need to do that !!

In-car mount, "Goingbush"

Battery life is just OK normally but once you turn on WiFi, they won't last 30 minutes.

I use the skeleton case for the windscreen mount and then throw it in the water proof case when it leaves the car. Best thing is it's always charged when you arrive.

I run mine on 5 minute loop pretty often then when something you want to keep happens, you just press the shutter button to save that loop.

I think I get 2 hours on a 32gb card from memory.

Disclaimer ( Not for use in Iveco Daily due to chance of water or dust penetration):D The reason for the 2 cases as Joel says also the plug is dustproof and just as easy to change cases as batteries :p

I never thought of cutting the cover. It would have saved me buying two extra batteries and a separate charger, and swapping the batteries all the time. Battery life is a pain.

I kept my original case intact as there are a couple of options for cases with the opening already in place.

I have a skeleton case and a mate has the full case with an opening.

I bought 2 high capacity batteries and a charger off ebay for $17. I think I'd prefer not having to change them over though.

We chop them all the time.

For running on chaser cars etc.

Not useless. Just Gaffer tape over the hole with the USB plug in it. Unless going through deep water pretty good normally.

We always have a case thats been hacked.

Well today, I finally go fed up with having to remove the cover to top up my GoPro, especially as I have not had time to have much of a play with it yet.

So out with the Dremel and in went an extra hole.

It’s just so much easier to top up the battery now.

Thanks for the idea AM.

Wife decided that we needed a gopro ( win for me :) ), so what are the must have accessories ?

I think they come in different packs. Surf pack, motorcycle pack, vehicle pack etc. I think mine was a vehicle pack so it came with the suction cup mount that's supposed to be good to 270km/h.

The only extra you really need is the one most of the discussion here has been about which is a case with a hole for the USB cable so you can charge/power it when your in the car.

A floaty back cover is handy safety thing if you use it in a location that you could loose it under water like a creek or the beach. I never worry in the pool.

Happy Days.

Of course I have. Here is the Postie dragging the pegs:

I'm sure it's actually exceeded 270km/h on my Disco.

Essentials are suction cup, handle bar mount, and some of those adhesive mounts, the curved ones are good as a helmet mount, I've got a chest mount, but only used it once, just to see how it was, didn't really like it, gets in the way.

Flat adhesive on the bullbar(camera was loose in it case, made an annoying noise)

If you use the suction mount on the front windscreen, to mount it so it's not really close to the windscreen and it can't be angled enough to either keep the suction cup out of screen or you angle it down enough, it has the ability to be mounted upside down, go into the menu, you can set it up to video upside down:D

Also don't use the suction cup on the outside on rough tracks, found that out the hard way.

I used a flat adhesive mount on the inside of the windscreen as I can almost have the camera hidden behind the rear view mirror. I just found the suction cup mount was too big and bulky and obscured either mine or my wife's vision.

Just watch the USB connection though as the first time I mounted it, I couldn't connect the USB cable as it was too close to the mirror mount. Those adhesive pads aren't designed to be removed.

Happy Days.

I saw an Action cam at Dick Smith a couple of weeks ago, at $100 it was to tempting to pass up, so I bought it, what a cracking camera, here's a vid I did last weekend, it's first hit out at a mates farm, this is not HD as Photobucket don't do it unless you pay, just waiting on my weekly download for Vimeo to be restored, then I'll put it up in HD on Vimeo.
