I found some genuine seat covers for my D2 on UK ebay ie Front seat back x 2, 2nd Row seat back small and large, 2nd row seat base small. They are all black leather with black alcantara insets and brand new. Small covers cost GBP 10 and Larger covers GBP 20, so GBP 80 all up plus post.
The rest I'll have to have made by a local trimmer to match.
I have decided to become an upholsterer and try to fit them myself, am I mad? Is this a difficult task?
Anyone know a decent Auto Trimmer in Brisbane that can assist with making the covers that weren't available?

Having just chopped apart a D2 front drivers seat , I would warn you that they are very complex covers, which have foam sanwiched along with wire stiffeners sewn into pockets in the seat base and back.
IMHO, the upholsterer would have to just make covers to fit over the stock cover or it would cost a fortune.

Thanks Phiip A. I have had a quote from a trimmer for front and 2nd row to be replaced in leather at $2000. Just trying to do it a little cheaper. There is a lot of information around, Exmoor Trim in the UK make DIY covers for both the Defender and Discovery 1.
They also have great videos which show you how to do it see link Part 3 Exmoor Trim Discovery 1 Seat Re-Trim Kit (http://www.exmoortrim.co.uk/part-3-exmoor-trim-discovery-1-seat-re-trim-kit.html), I'm just a bit nervous, but I've ordered a set of hogring pliers online today so going to give it a go.
Also the RAVE and LR Workshop manuals do cover it too!

The D1 seat you have given the link to is quite different to a D2 seat.
However the principles look the same with the J moulding etc. AFAIR the seat back and base are once piece in a D2 , as I recall cutting them apart but maybe I didn't have to do that.LOL.
AFAIK they are early D1 seats with a RRC like mounting system.
However it is relatively easy to fit the covers once made, but I was referring to the making of the covers.
If Exmoor make D2 covers I would go for it.
