View Full Version : Something Weird Here

I was visiting an old thread which contained a post by myself.

Now the post makes no sense as if it has been edited by some one else.

It is obvious by the fact that four people thanked me for the post, that it was not me that failed to add the missing text.

See post five from the link.

Nothing wrong, Dave - except that the link to the page you posted is broken.

This is the link you posted (I changed the first letter to an "X" because the forum will attempt to load a webpage. Change it to an "h")

Have you deleted it or your imageshack page?

Ron I haven't deleted anything. I no longer use ImageShack as it is no longer free, me being a tight arse.

The link you posted with the Xtpp, which I changed to htpp, took me to an ImageShack page which said "this image has been deleted.

So does that mean that every post I have with ImageShack photos in it won't show the picture?

If you have closed your Imageshack account, then all your links in all your posts to those pictures wont work.

When you add a pic to a thread, you are only actually linking to it, and not embedding it.

This is mainly due to the amount of server storage space that would be required to hold all the photos on this site.

Take the Funny Pics thread as an example. There are over 18,500 posts. If you allow 1 picture per post, at 2mb per pic, it is a HUGE amount of data.

Hope this helps, and I hope I have it right...

As I stated in my last post, I did not close, just stopped using it, due to them now charging a fee.

Is it possible that because I did not pay up that they closed my account?

Which means I will have hundreds of other pics in threads that have gone.

I have a similar problem, but in my case it was because the site where I had my pics was taken over by another company and then again by another one.

Because the address is now different, I have several posts where my images don't appear.

So does that mean that some one who goes to a lot of trouble taking pics and doing a tutorial on a project has wasted all his time if the image hoster decides to end it?

This sucks big time. There are many a project that I see and think I might do that down the track so I save a link. I might then find when I want it that it is not there.

More or less, yes.

You could start up your own free image hosting service.

Which is the reason that I recommend any images which are important be uploaded to AULRO and not linked from another site.

The only disadvantage I can see from doing this is that only logged on forum members can see the uploaded images.

Which every other forum I ever visit must do this as I can never view their pics.

Mate you should never relying on a host location to have your original or PP work on them.
I have all my work in 3 different external HD and only the PP jpg image for the internet in my own page plus a host.
