Now MS is looking into releasing next month a beta version of Windows 9

I beginning to believe that the best upgrade to Windows is Linux
Call me a slow learner :D

Whats a beta ?

Versions released for testing and having a feedback of bugs on them.
Some similar to new LR models but the bugs generally are fixed quicker :D
Having said that, Windows 8 is a lemon and many of the previous version of Windows were as bad as early models of the LR Freelander :p

It seems to been a trend that every second version of windows is a dud. Windows 98 good, Millennium dud, Xp good, Vista dud, windows 7 good and windows 8 as posted a lemon. So hopefully windows nine follows the trend and is good.

Definitely agree. At work we have all recently been upgraded to Windows 7 (it is at least better than what we were previously running). We have had numerous issues with Windows 7, especially around "firewall" protection and the ability to run some business software that required "live" links to servers outside our network.

At around the same time, I bought a new Sony Tablet thingy running Windows 8. Other than one "crash" that required re-setting the computer and re-installing some of my software, I never had any issues with it (except for the missing "Start" button). Within weeks of buying this, the Windows 8.1 upgrade came out and I installed it - have never had a single problem with it. All of the programs that we have had issues with on Windows 7 in the office have been running without problems on my Tablet all along - at some stages, I was the only person in the office able to access and use some of the "external" software packages (AggFlow and MEX if anyone is familiar with them).

Similarly - I have never experienced any of the difficulties that some on here report with running AULRO on IE. I ONLY use IE - have never installed Chrome, Firefox or any of the others - have never had any problems at all in accessing AULRO and using all of the available features. :D

Be interested to hear your thoughts on it Dave. We've only recently started using it - mainly for the crushing plants at the moment, but moving towards using it with the mobile fleet and for managing stores inventory / purchasing as well in the not too distant future.

It's better than what we were previously using (a combination of lists on whiteboards and Excel spreadsheets) - but obviously not the same as some of the larger packages, like MainPac / SAP / Pronto etc.

We went with them mainly because of price - and the fact that they're an Australian company with local (Queensland) support. The company I work for is also Brisbane based.

I haven't come across MEX before - past experience has been mainly with Pronto (which is pretty similar to MEX to use) and the old DOS based version of JDE.

AggFlow is a process simulator - US based. Used mainly for design of crushing plants in mining / quarrying applications. There's others out there (I also use one called BRUNO) - but AggFlow is probably the best of the lot across a broader range of applications - others are more product specific.

i look after a small national log transport company's computer systems in qld nsw and vic

i only get to play with it when it plays up or if the machines it is running on have issues.

their support team are very good i have to say.

these days it is a much nicer product than it was. it was access based but is now ms sql based.

the mob i do work for are pretty impressed with it...
