Hi

It is pretty interesting and has had quite a lot of mechanical work done, but the paintwork and trim is a bit rough, it has lived outside for sure

The drivetrain is quieter than my old one!

The immediate bad stuff is one headlight has a chip and another a crack, so they need replacing.

I am also a little concerned that the front bar won't pass muster on the blue slip inspection, it has not been engineered. Of course I could always add a winch bar to it.

I am currently working out how much it is likely to cost to get it on the road.

As far as the paint goes, the roof will need repainting but the body can probably be preserved with a new clear coat on it.

Not a bad looking set up the guy has done. The cost of a new front bar (or borrow one for a short time ;)) I imagine would not be too expensive, I have one sitting in my shed just in case I ever need it. Depending on the headlight cracks are they fixable in the same way you can fix a windscreen to get your blue slip? So much easier here in WA, as long as the car stays registered no inspections required :D.

Looking at another thread here it seems that the front bars do not have to be ADR Compliant if the vehicle was manufactured before 2003, but not sure about whether or not I would need an engineers certificate for it.

It seems around 1,500 would add a MCC winch Bar :p

The headlight chip may be repairable, but the cracked one has had a repair attempted before, so it needs to be replaced.

It would be a shame to take Shirl's Rangie anywhere it might get dirty. It does sound like it's had virtually every weak point either replaced or repaired. Plus it has been well cared for and serviced religiously.

That is my feeling as well. While I am not wanting to be an "uber offroader" I will be taking it where it is going to get dirty and "Bush Pinstriped" so it would be a shame to do that to one like Shirls:eek:

I would like to know how they fitted the 150amp alternator though !
