Hey everyone, I've been trying to program the function of raising and lowering the air suspension via the key.. I can get the 'walk me home' and 'emergency signal' programmed no problem but the suspension function doesn't want to work..

I followed the instructions in the manual, but I'm not sure if there's a special trick to it? Is it something I can't program on my S model? Why not if everyone else is working..

Can someone enlighten me, if you know a trick or if there have been issues?

Thanks in advance Mike

All I know is you have I have the hazard lights flashing and all the doors shut and hold down the headlight button along with either unlock to raise or back door to lower, but just make sure you have the headlight held down.

What Nat says, it works for me too, of course with the engine running, it's very clever, but I still don't think it would be used that often.

Having said that, can someone tell me why the car lowers itself once the engine is turned off, it also did it the other when is stopped at traffic lights....what's the go?

Does the car "lower itself" .................. or just let a little air out to level the suspension (like mine does).

It's a standard feature - the suspension will always try to level itself when the vehicle is stopped (often referred to as the vehicle "farting"). :)

If it "lowers itself" to the point that you need to raise the suspension to bring the vehicle back to normal height - then you have a problem, but I've never heard of one doing this.

I used the remote key to raise and lower the suspension often. The main reason is to level the caravan when we are staying somewhere without unhitching. You need to have the hazard lights on and all doors closed but the engine does not need to be running.

I particularly like doing this while nearby Landcruiser owners are struggling with their caravan jockey wheels to level their van while i sit down and watch them and having my first beer :D

Thanks guys, so I program it with the hazards lights on.. Don't need to have the hazards on when I want to lower the car from the outside?

No no there is no programming it at all just shut all the doors and have the hazards lights on you just hold the buttons and it will lower all the way to its lowest limits or if your in access it will raise to normal then stop then you take your finger off the unlock button and press it again and it will raise up to its full off road height. And you don't need to have the car running.

I love lowering and raising the car just playing with people at lights haha

Ill have to agree with BMKal on that one mine just moves around a little bit when you turn it off or get out depending on who's been sitting where and what you've taken out but not a whole lot and I've never had it lower at the traffic lights.

Thanks Kal, makes sense about the levelling. It hasn't needed to be raised after it has done this, so your info sounds good to me.

My bad about having the motor running to remote raise the car, I did it with the motor running, but seems you don't need to...learn something every day.

Would be great if the horn did not beep every time you press to raise or lower.
Mine will not raise or lower without the engine running as one suggested earlier.

Maybe they changed it in the 8spd update not sure but mine doesn't beep only rarely when moving with the key and it works either engine running or no.

Yours is broken Brett. :D

Mine doesn't beep either and will raise and lower without the engine running, until you run out of air.

Maybe.....maybe that's why the horn keeps beeping....telling me to leave it alone.

It's the same beep when you try to lock the car, when a door is open....I just get it all time as I increase the height.

I use the function a couple of times a week to hitch the float up for Nicole.

Sorry guys - so to clarify..

I can program the key/air suspension as per instruction in the booklet - has to be done within 1 minute of turning the car off, press and hold the landrover button, then press the lowering lever on the air suspension and that should be done?

What is the reason behind having the emergency lights on?

I would have thought the reason for having this feature would be to be able to raise or lower the car without having to unlock the car, jump in to turn the e-lights on or turning the car on even - If I have to turn the car on I might as well choose access height and its done.

I'd like to be able to use this feature for example when at the shops and you have something large and heavy to put into the boot, not have to start the car up or turn lights on etc. Also when I sometimes take my mum to the shops/doctors its much easier for her to enter the disco when at access height, again if I have to go into the car, turn a whole bunch of things just to press the buttons I might as well start the car and lower it..

does that make sense? I'm still not understanding how to get this to work..

Sinistr, I've always regarded this as a useless (to me) feature as I would like to use it the way you suggest - going to the car with something heavy - but as you have to open the car, turn on the hazard lights etc ... pointless. Fortunately it can be programmed to do something mildly useful - turn the headlights on and off ...

I guess lowered to the stops will make the roof easier to wash or load a roofrack.
I was shown how to do it but I dont think it sank in too well.It did involve the hazzars lights, dont think the engine was running.

The best thing to do is just lower the car when you get out thats what i do every time just before i pull up just hit access and when you get out its all lowered.

And no the car will not move without the hazard lights on they are very nervous about the car moving incase its in a low car park and a kid just hits a button and it raises or something they want to make sure you can't just accidentally do it.

Its pretty much used for caravans and towing applications,

1. Leave the car in normal mode
2. Put the hazard lights on
3. Shut all the doors
4. Grab your key and hold the headlight button down
5. With headlight held down press and hold unlock the car will raise
6. With headlight held down press the back door button and the car will lower.

Makes sense about the safety part I guess. That's what I do as well, lower before I get out... Guess I'll continue using it that way and maybe program the tailgate release instead :)

Just remember the more you use the raise and lower function the sooner the air compressor dies.

I used to lower every time I got out but really there was no need particularly after I got LLAMS so it is set at -20mm all the time.

I guess you have a good point there, but i probably won't keep my car for more than a year or 2 so i guess the compressor side is not a big concern. I do get where your coming from though.

Thats just what i got told when i was looking at them saying how come when you put it in park it doesn't lower and they said LR only wants controlled inputs so as not to damage something inadvertently, and as i said thats why you have to have the indicators on so its not something thats easily accessed and can be a bumped in your pocket or by a kid I'm guessing.
