The good news is I pick up my 110 tomorrow, the bad news is I'm yet to inform missus. Any hot tips for me to break the news??

Park it next to a tree, with the camo she won't see it, and you can claim its always been there.

Focus on:
the savings over the course of vehicle life
It can be the 'Dirty' car for tip runs etc.
The 'Nice'car stops getting scratches and mud inside from rought track work
Good luck ;)

Wow .. a bit hard to hide ...
1. Plead insanity
2 Was an impulse buy, didn't think you would actually win it at such a low cost
3. I am sure I mentioned it to you
4. Its my mates, he was too scared to tell his wife so is leaving it here .. if I chuck in money then i get to use it as well. Eventually buy him out ..
5. Take it on the chin, get ready for what ever she wants for the next 12 months !!
6. Flowers, wine and dine, and offer her that (insert holiday, new shoes, fashion handbag, washing machine ....) she will know something is up but lessens the pain when you cough up

This is brilliant in its irony and cleverness!
When ever I bought a new firearm the missus always ended up with a new pair of boots, three new pairs of leather boots later and I think I have enough firearms.

How does it go ?
It is easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission ? :D

#6 worked for me ... prior to purchase. I expect it will be more costly again (but still likely effective) as a post-purchase damage control strategy.

Thanks to everyone. I'm sum what of a tragic as this will be the 3rd defender I have owned, I'm currently driving around in a 130 only purchased early this year. Not as bad as some others I know but I'm getting there. Being recently retired from the forces I might go down the road of ANZAC spirit.

:lol2::lol2: well this should seriously test the relationship .. selling the 130 or going for broke ;);)
I know the situation well, I had a few years of GAS (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome), got out of control completely at one point and I had guitars being shipped to all my mates and then sneaking them into the house when 'she who must be obeyed' was out shopping. There is only so many wardrobes and beds to hide them in one house. Drove the kids up the wall.
Luckily I stopped at 100 :wasntme::wasntme:
Slowly selling them down .. will take me well into my retirement I reckon.
That's why I could relate so easily to your predicament. Weird thing is dad (89) just passed his rock collection (minerals, not the music variety) to me, 6000 specimens, I feel there is something funny going on in our family :confused:
So what do you call it, LAS (Landrover Acquisition Syndrome):confused: I do feel some twinges (risk) in buying every piece of recovery and camping gear. 'Danger Will Robinson' :p:p Luckily I did that with my previous 4wd beasts :lol2:

Sorry my mistake I'm use to commenting in the defender thread. No it's an FFR with the 3.9 I'm going to have to get use to the change in names

Good luck. Let us know how you go. When I purchased my Personnel Carrier without 'fully consulting' my missus in July last year she imposed a condition that It must be sold if she wasn't happy with it in 6 months time. I agreed and am happy to report that I'm still the proud owner of this fine piece of machinery. My wife is a good sport and luckily very forgiving!

Buy her a diamond ring, and tell her it came with the ring!

As my FFR is my first ever Landy, I made sure to lay the groundwork before purchase. I did not want to be in the position to make a very difficult choice.
Due to my mad skillz in negotiation, I was able to bargain down the value of "compensatory spending" to equal the value of my purchase. Think interstate holiday with lots of spending money. And no grumbling about having chest pains while shopping. (Bugger, she's on to that one :( ).
... OK, so it was still expensive. But at least there is full disclosure and i get to keep my "mistress", as she calls it.

Just pick up the car and I'm happy with the drive, but currently still sitting at the RMS as the vin number isn't coming up on the system. Not happy!!

Happened to me as well at Campbelltown Registry, they tried half heartily for an hour to get thru to somebody. In the end went back to Frontline at Minto and they made a call to the right person in the Motor Vehicle Registry and once this happened back to Campbelltown registry and all was sweet.

Well I've made it home all sorted in regards to the RMS. I'm not in the clear with the other half but not as bad a reception as I was expecting. I'm now becoming more suspicious as time goes on.

PM me your address.
I will come over & make sure you are ok. If necessary, I will even remove the offending item, and keep it in secure, safe storage until the heat dies down a bit... ;)
All part of the service.

I told my missus about it, all was good. It took her a few days to realize that the 90 has only 4 seats and 2 doors, no child restraints etc... she should have been more vigilant :p
