Hi, guys i got this tail gate issue last week where it would not open, i could here the aculater working when trying to open the rear door,so i got inside and split the carpet away from the top of the lower door using panel trim levers, it gave me enough room to access the cable on the right side, on the cable i cut the plastic off exposing the braded metal outer sheaf cutting thru that eposes the inner nylon , then carefully epose the inner cable, i then grabed the inner cable with nose pliers and the door opened up easly, the fault was a broken cable end at the acculator, so i hope someone finds this useful as its real hard trying some other ways thatr ive seen .:D

its real hard trying to insert a small screwdriver into the hole thats if you can find it, also if your cable is broken at the aculator end, trying to find the cable with small pliers is a real problem.

I managed to do the same job on Monday. What a great sound that click and whoosh of the back window opening after many hours and frustration and googling! Efforts of other D3 owners around the world are much appreciated when they bother to do the youtube thing.

Adam at Davis Performance had sent the appropriate part so replacement of the latch was pretty straight forward after that.

Hi, My first post on this forum.

I had this happen to my D3 when on a round Australia trip. No panel trim levers but I did have some bicycle tyre levers that worked a treat. The usual fault being the right angle bend at the end of the cable.

I now have MY14 TDV6..
