Hey all after allot of reading around the forum, and my own choice for dba rotors (used them to solve problems before and they are aussie made) i have bought and replaced the standard rotors fit a set of dba slotted t2 rotors on my 2010 sd se 3.0l. Upon pulling the whole lot apart the stock rotors were no where near gone. i got the quote during a service from land rover dealer in Mackay which said rotors. Read up that they don't last and didn't think. The rotors off my car will go again no worries so if someone wants them they can pick them up from weston in nsw 2326 just let me know I'll hold them. I put remsa pads on from brakes direct he said they are a good soft rotor friendly pad. I didn't tell the Mrs i changed the brakes. And the next day she came in from the shops and asked me what i had done. So i guess that's a thumbs up. I got the rotors from spares pro who are in Gulgong there rotor price seemed a misprint so cheap so check em out great bloke to deal with to. SparesPro Online Car Parts and Accessories (http://Www.sparespro.com.au). Brake pads were not cheap around 160 for fronts. They had aftermarket pad sensors which i used but the fit on them wasnt great so i used more zip ties.

I know that they had to be machined in aus for t2 slot and only took a week to turn up. So if they're machining slots here i would have thought the whole rotor is done here.

Can aussie my stock rotors have Brembo stamped in them. The guru at brakes direct steered my away from Brembo as he said anything Brembo that is oe replacement is crap from china and only theyre race stuff is of any worth. I was thinking about going that way myself let my know how your rotors last though. Did you get slotted

I've used this guy High performance rotors and clutches // RapidRS.com.au (http://www.rapidrs.com.au/) a few times in the past and been more than happy with his rotors.

He is pretty honest and says near all rotors sold in Australia come from China but they very often get finishes in Australia. Basically he gets a pallet of blank rotors from China then machines them up to suit what ever vehicle. He can do slots and dimples or just one and not the other. He can anodize them in gold or leave them plan. Then he can do a few different slots, curved or straight. Pretty much whatever you want.

I know a few guys who track (race) there cars use these rotors because they are cheap and they are just as good as any other availble in Australia. They are all the same steal, it's just the finishing that varies.

Of interest. I've noticed that rotors are far more consumable these days. I remember old cars that I'd change several sets of pads but never a rotor. These days pads seem to be far more agressive. I changed a set of rotors every time I changed pads on my WRX. I managed to change 3 sets in 160,00km.

Something else I've noticed. Not so many years ago, you would see race cars at night with rotors glowing bright red. These days you don't see them glowing but sparks flying out of the wheels as the rotors are ground away.

Thing have changed.

Happy Days

Imo to many people change rotors prematurely. Most of the time they dont really need a grind sure is good practice. But if you put a dial guage on and don't have run out they will need into the grooves quick enough. I did my time on buses and we never ground rotors only knocked the lips off with a grinder. We had a brake test machine (driven wheel dyno type) and after a bed in the brakes were as good as new. We only changed them due to a vibration (run out) or minimum thickness.
As for rotors being ground down i prefer soft pads as opposed to the heavy duty type or metal pads. Less breaking effort required less rotor wear. I'm hearing from bendix dealer the euro brake set will be available soon comes with pads bolts sensors and clips with a soft rotor friendly pad.
If rather change pads then rotors just for the ease of it.
I'm also hoping the dba rotors are of better steel then the competitors and will outlast the way they have for me in the past. Fingers crossed

I've only ever changed due to minimum thickness.
As you should change pads at the same time you change rotors, if your rotors are past 3/4 gone from one set of pads then you might as well change them at the same time because your rotor will be gone before your pads are half gone.
I had the rear rotors on my Disco skimmed as I just wanted to get a bit more out of them and then fitted a cheap set of pads. Yes braking suffered but I'll do a whole set, pads and rotors, front and rear soon.
Happy days

Nope mine came from Europe!!
Funny enough yes some are from Europe but the majority are from China.
And on that note i have seen Brembo rotors from Italy that were a poorer quality finnish than the China produced ones go figure;)
