I'm looking at purchasing a Freelander 2 and while it meets and exceeds almost every requirement there is one potential issue...

My wife is mobility, health and height 'challenged'. Combine this with the fact there isn't a FR2 even remotely close by to physically test (and she is too ill to travel) I'm concerned that she won't be able to get into the passenger seat on those occassions where that is required (docs/hospital visits, etc) which would be a disaster.

Remote measurements suggest that the passenger seat is around 78cm from ground level at its highest point, down to 70cm where it meets the seat back. It also appears to a good distance in from the edge of the car.

Somewhat difficult to explain but the easiest option is to 'back' into the seat, rearend first and swing her legs around. Similarly when exiting the vehicle - swing legs out first. Given the lack of seat height adjustment, are there any similar height members (152cm/5') who can offer advice on if this is possible? Note that a side step doesn't really help as it makes the seat even further from the exterior edges.

Thanks in advance!

My wife is exactly 152cm - I'll ask her to try it

Rtl.. We have a MY13 FL2 and my 91 yo mum (~148 cm) who is mobility challenged is unable to climb into our car. Though mum is shorter than your wife I think it would be challenging for someone who is mobility challenged to climb into and egress from the car. Although my 140 cm son just jumps into the car and jumps off with no probs.

I think your only chance is with some good and appropriate side steps. My wife is not particularly short and thinks the seat is actually too high off the floor. It's the only thing she dislikes about the car from day one. Cheers.
