Righto....it just occurred to me to pose a quick question to the masses (well, the five or six of you following my re-fit thread). Maybe an idea will evolve.
I am about to sort out the door tops; just looking at Bailey channel now and planning to get my hands on some.
At the last minute, I have been looking anew at the door tops (some of the only bits left inside the house now....) and casting my mind back to several ideas I had a while ago.
I am wracking my feeble brain to see if there is a way to preserve as much of the original appearance as possible and come up with a plan of Mustelid cunning which somehow allows me to open a big, wide window space rather than the little opening provided by the standard sliding arrangement.
I have considered a hinged-pin arrangement for the bolts attaching the door tops, to enable them to be folded out and laid down against the outer door and clipped in place.
I am now looking to see if there is some, some, some way that I might have an area of glass or perspex that somehow can be easily moved in and out of position and yet will not need to be stored in amongst the load in the rear of the vehicle (like a door top would on a journey of indefinite proportions). I expect that I am dreaming the impossible dream here...probably millions have tried, and then gone back to belting the bridges of their noses on the window edge until the end of their days or flung the door tops into a deep ravine.
But...... I have a dream.....
