P38a Tyres

I need a new set of 255-55X18 tyres on my 2001 Rangie.
I use the Rangie as my road car (so I'm looking for a 80/20 road/sand-dirt tyre ...I use my 6X6 Pinzgauer for the hard stuff :) ) and over the last few months I have researched a number of suitable tyres including Michelins, Pirellis, Continentals, Yokohamas and Coopers and as the P38 is renowned for tramlining I've also spoken to various tyre sellers and specialists (Ritters etc) about which is best suited.
Strangely two of the highly recommended tyres are no longer or not available in Australia, but two that are readily available and that appear to be ideally suited are:

1/ MICHELIN Latitude Tour HP.
2/. PIRELLI Scorpion Verde All Season.

Before I make up my mind about these two has anybody specifically got these tyres fitted to a P38?

G'day Steve, I have read that post but the tyres are really a little more aggressive than what I'm looking for......What I'm really after is feedback on the Michelin HP or Pirelli all season when fitted to a P38.

IIRC most reports re. tramlining had more to do with the 18" rim size rather than the tyres as such. You might find more info using the specialized Google search facility on RANGEROVERS.NET HOME (http://www.rangerovers.net) in the P38 section. 18" rims were virtually standard on NAS spec vehicles and there are a lot of posts there re. tyres/tires;).

I just sold my third set of 18s. With coopers on them with 80% tread.

I have a set of 18's with Pirelli Scorpion tyres & did notice tramlining but I think it is more ball Joint/ suspension bush related than tyres.
I have a new set of bushes just waiting on Ball joints so I can do the lot so to speak & then new wheel alignment. I'm sure this will fix the tramlining issue.

Probably not exactly what your after, but I've got 18's and a set of General grabber AT2's. Great tyre on and off road, no road noise great in the wet and absolutely no tram lining. As an all rounder they are great, they will be going on my new Prado for sure.

I was told though not to put any directional tyre on Rangie, as they will almost guarantee tram lining, food for thought.

I have 18" directional road tyres on the Rangie with no tram lining. I also have fairly new drag link and steering arms with new bearings. Prior to the new drag link and steering being replaced the tram lining was significant! Even on the 16" off road tyres.
