I have finally done it and have bought a 2005 LRD3 TDV6 SE 135,000k's Silver with ARB Bull Bar Colour Coded and Safari Snorkel. Also it has Anderson plug fitted and Electric Trailer Brake Control. Which I found out from previous owner it was also used to tow a caravan. I had to go to Melbourne to pick it up originally from W.A. was serviced from new by Barbagallo Landrover Service Centre. It has full documented history and has been very well maintained mechanically. I drove it to Adelaide absolute pleasure to drive fuel usage was 11 litres per 100 kilometres. Also has Harmon/Kardon Sound System which sound awesome. It has a few dents and scratches that I will be getting repaired as it is 9 years old what else do you expect. Also centre console armrest needs replacing and drivers seat its a bit worn will be fitting seat covers just general wear and tear items. I will be getting a extended warranty on it from my mechanic a 5 year one hopefully so if any major repairs come up I will have a bit of insurance. I am getting the ARB Bull Bar Repainted due to scratches on sides me being pedantic. I will be eventually installing dual battery set up as it has a REDARC kit installed in front of battery box have to do a bit more research on it. Also I will be fitting spot lights looking towards Narva Brand. Also will be installing side steps more than likely will be visiting TRS at Lonsdale a lot in the future for parts etc. I will be getting the transmission serviced asap as soon as it comes back from the crash repairer and get my mechanic to go over it and do what has to be done to it. I did get a mechanically inspected in Melbourne by Land Rover Service Centre INDEPENDENT SERVICE SPECIALISTS Port Melb South Car Services & Mechanical RepairsValiance - 3207
126 - 130 Thistlethwaite St, South Melbourne, VIC, 3205 this is what they came back with for a Roadworthy.
- FRONT ROTORS X 2
- FRONT PADS ( NOT UNDERSIZE BUT SHOULD BE CHANGED TO GO WITH NEW DISCS )
- 1 X NEW TYRE TO REPLACE LHR TYRE WITH NAIL ( NOT REPAIRABLE)
- 2 X REAR LENZES
Which has been done by dealer which he already new what had to be done.
Also Body/Interior Inspection report found
Drivers Seat is Fraying.
Drivers Door Seal Rubber Needs Replacing.
Wheel Alignment Required as it is pulling to the right.
Centre armrest has been repaired but not well needs to be done again properly.
Damage to LHR quarter panel 20 cm long and paint missing on quarter same quarter near tail lights.
Drivers door paint damage to edge 30 cm long and scratches.
Tailgate paint chips and scratches.
Small scratches on all panels.
Pictures were emailed to me.
Run electrical test on all functions - ok.
Scan for fault codes/history - all ok.
Total cost for inspection was $300.00
I think it was well worth it as I had not seen it in person till I picked it up and paid for it and drove back to Adelaide.
Again I am glad I purchased it much better I waited and saved a bit more to get a disco3 than buying a TD5 I am smiling from ear to ear.
Also I will be very vigilant on servicing and maintenance as I have always been on my cars.
I will be using to tow a 2200 kg ski boat also over the summer season also.
Cheers to all out there any advice or pointers in the future would be much appreciated.
I am going to say thanks to the advice on here it has been very helpful and good to know what to look for also.
Also Air Suspension Compressor has been replaced and so has EGR Valves have been replaced and Tailgate Lock Mechanism replaced also
I only know of a Diff Whine Noise on the last service at Barbagello.
It was not investigated further and was meant to be re booked to do so.
I will have to get looked asap !
Cheers
Peter

Great to hear mate sounds like a top car apart from a few minor issues that need fixing up, if you get it for the right price it could be a steal from what i gather they are just as amazing as the D4!! I haven't driven one but love my D4 so I'm sure they will be a sweet and you'll love it!

Can I ask What you offered him because he just accepted mine under duress. He wanted a bit more but I said no because I am taking it back to Adelaide. The warranty means nothing to me hence. I said no warranty just a cheaper purchase price and he agreed subject of course to a mechanical inspection. The worst part is I got to drive it only on Saturday. I took it to get it registered on Monday after work and Tuesday I took it to the crash repairer to get all the scratches dents and dings fixed me being pedantic of course and it is still there should get it back beginning of next week.

Hi To All
Question Time
I have a 2005 LRD3 SE TDV6.
When I connect my boat trailer with led lights both indicators flash intermittently.
Brake Lights work fine, Tail Lights work fine and so does Left and Right Indicators.
I have been advised to connect resistors to trailer but not keen as will be submerged in water some times.
I have been told to purchase a led trailer module and use from trailer to trailer not really wanting to.
I want to know can I get these resistors connected permanently to LRD3 just before trailer plug on 4WD and have no issues ?
I know you use the black plug on the right.
But what is the white plug on the left for and why wont it take a round male plug in it ?
I do have reverse sensors and will my computer think that there is a trailer permanently connected to it or will it work fine.
I will be towing trailer's with led lights and with normal globe lights.
I would like to know has anyone done this and has there been any issues with it.
To who ever can and wants to respond any advice would be much appreciated and thanks to those who do.
Cheers
Peter

For any trailer with LED lights you'll have to run a resistor module. The D3 sends a low voltage pulse down the line to check for blown globes and to know when a trailer is attached, but it's enough to make LED lights flash and the car dosent recognize that a trailer is attached. Your options are either use an inline module between the car plug and trailer plug, or hard wire one into the D3 - but it will need to be able to be bypassed when not towing otherwise the car will constantly think its hooked to a trailer

Have a read of this thread, you can install the resistors in the car but make sure you can switch them as you say you will be towing both kinds of trailers. Also make sure they can safely dissipate the heat that they generate.

Linear electronics is definitely worth your time getting as the solution is quick and easy with no stuffing around:

EDIT: also, if I remember correctly, the D3 needs more than just the resistors to solve the issue.
