Chinese pumps are pretty good

I just pulled apart my tank pump today as it is making a screaming bearing noise after about 5 years of ownership.

It cost about $130 for a 1200watt pump, with pressure controller.
It looks like this one

It replaced a Davies pump which cost about $250 and failed 1 week out of 1 year warranty with an inoperable heat sensor failure in the motor.

I was able to easily disassemble the whole thing logically, once I worked out that the impeller screwed off, after trying to lever it off for a while.

I found the front bearing has died from moisture getting in, even though the seal design is good and there is a drain.
I will go get a new bearing tomorrow and if lucky a seal, but doubtful on that.
However to me this is a good product that has lasted well. Why wouldn't you buy Chinese stuff?

I bought one of those little Chinese two stroke generators for $99 in 2004. The jigger performed flawlessly running 12V lights and fridge at swap meets and camping. Ran on the proverbial oily rag. Retired it about 2011 when I bought a bigger four stroke one. I found during blackouts at home that its 240V capacity would run a couple of lights and a TV but would not start a fridge. It developed a rumbly bearing in the alternator section so I passed it on to a mate who bought another that looked brand new at a swap meet but wouldn't start. So one got made out of the two and most of the original is still in service.

during the early GFC I purchased a chinese pump[long key ??] with stainless 18 liter pressure vessel. rated at 2 storey 5 taps. $260 with free postage.


the blader failed and so dit the replacement. The hose conector had different treads.I ended up refitting the original onga 5 liter tank.


ITs a few years later it had a small water leak. Im convinced it was rusted tank but father inlaw believes it was the impellor seal.

$600+ with a big discount last christmas purchased a ONGA silent pump.
looks the same even the blue colour. the power box is on the side not on top and came with the same leaking plugs the last one came with.
we now had to built a dog house for the silent pump outside for it as the noise was increadable.


It has that flow control gizmo that gives perfect water pressure.
I put the power use meter on it and its not good. compared to the old one. if you flush the toilet it runs the total time it refills then some after waiting in case its needed.


My question would a large pressure tank upset the flow control.or if you put the control switch long after the pressure tank.
