8) there's a lot of people here a lot smarter than me, but have you tried 'browse' when you're at that add picture thing?

I think I have an answer for you: You sound like you are looking in the " Your account:Details section." Whilst you need to configure that to your liking, to upload an avatar, you need to configure "PROFILE" which is just above this message page. (ie Forum FAQ..Search... PROFILE..etc). There you can upload an avatar. I will presume that you have already changed the pictures size to 80x80. (IF not, ACDSee will do it )

Olddog.
If you have an avator on your computer that you wish to add you only need to go to your profile.
All the way down the bottom you will see a browse button, this will let you load directly from your computer.
Check the size it must be 80x80 pixels and less than 7kb.

I converted th jpeg to a bitmap, then simply went to the image section on the toolbar, selected stretch/skew, then just kept reducing the size 10% or so at a time. You've gotta do both v ertical and horizontal by the same amounts or it'll skew outa shape. Not very scientific but it was easier than the program i downloaded.
Good luck, if you have any probs let me know
