In fact I'm quite amazed that the site is still active.

And remember that probably both of them have been compiled long after the 80" ceased production, so they are a guide only!

I remember Mike posting once that he used to believe that all 80" had the aluminium steering box when they were new, but that he has since changed his mind,

Everything you say has some truth in it, but we have to thank people like Mike for doing the hard yards plowing through the books and compiling the information for us.

What is more I know for a fact that Mike has gone to the trouble of investigating hands on the actual differences in the parts. It was at one of the S1 Gatherings at Mokinya when he did a photo study of one of the early relays in a near #1500 '48 model. A part that is almost non-existant in UK vehicles and assumed to only be on pre-productions.

In the light of new discoveries, a good investigator should refine or change previous beliefs. That's progress.

Mike Bishop is a person I admire Diana; my comments were not meant as a criticism, but merely to point out that even legends can make mistakes sometimes :D
