If anybody has links to the fitouts of D3/D4s can you post here, especially if they have PDF plans.
My Bro is due back from an overseas trip and I will be hitting him up for a bit of "brotherly love" he is a high end cabinet maker.Much easier to hand the job to him;);););););););)
Thanks

Dolium drawers and fridge slide with a 45 litre water tank at the back.
Set back to give access to the spare:

Pack a couple of tubs on top with kitchen stuff etc, as well as tent, sleeping bags and other soft stuff on top. Chairs pack in space between drawers and tailgate.

Just the Land Rover ones:

Bit of bling really, but I like them. Although they did save my tail light when got side-swiped a while back, so maybe not completely useless.

Jon,
What size socket and extension have you used for the spare? So far, I have found that only a 1/4" drive extension actually fits. I have already removed the seat hinge plastic covers but a 3/8 extension seems to be too big diameter.
With a 1/4 drive, I can't get a big enough socket because it seems to best suit a 1" socket on the winder head. I have a drive adapter now between socket and extension but that makes the whole thing a bit sloppy.
Cheers,
Scott

A 3/8 extension fits mine no worries.

Mine's a 1/4" drive extension with an adaptor to a 3/8" socket. I'll have a look at it properly in the morning and give you some more details.

I took some photos this morning of what I have done but haven't been able to upload them, so I'll just describe what I have done.
My setup consists of two parts. The first part is a 4" x 1/4" drive extension with a handle, which I carry loose in one of the side bins in the back. You can see this sticking out of the floor in my post above.
The second is permanently mounted to the winch shaft. It consists of a 1/2" drive socket (can't remember the size) and two reducers - 1/2" to 3/8" and 3/8" to 1/4". I have also wrapped some closed cell foam strip around the socket to hold it in place and to seal the hole.
I set this up when I had my D3 and it all worked perfectly. When I moved it to my D4 I found the alignment wasn't quite right between the socket and the gap between the seats. It still worked but rubbed on the plastic trim on the rear seat frame, so I subsequently removed the trim. With the trim removed a 3/8" extension fits easily between the seats on mine, but I have just continued with the bits I already had.
I have never had a problem with the socket and reducers coming off the winch shaft, but thinking about it now I might put a dob of sikaflex on each of the bits to make sure they stay in place.
Cheers,
Jon

A link to the post that details my install. Still going well a couple of hundred thousand KM and 5 years later.

I do have a rear tyre carrier now so access to the spare isn't an issue. The only mods I've needed was to put locknuts on the tiedown turnbuckles so they dont loosen on a trip and I have made up steel straps to hold the fridge down tightened with a couple of turnbuckes as well. I have a half made replacement in Aluminium that I havent had the chance to complete but this setup works so well I'm not very motivated.

Mine was done by Drifta and is similar to Jon and others. However, I got them to add a storage box that mounts to the fridge slide via 4 screws and captive nuts in the slide. This creates useful storage for when the fridge is in the camper trailer or just not required for a trip. I'm going to add handles to the box.
The unit also includes a slide-out shelf that converts to a free-standing camping table. When you slide it partially out, it's handy for when packing/unpacking the fridge.
There is room behind for tent and other things when 2nd row seats are raised but I will be adding tie-down points to attach things when 2nd row seats are lowered flat, e.g. extra water.
I also like that the top drawer can be opened without lowering tailgate.

That's a good looking set-up Scott. Have been considering Drifta myself - though will probably not go that way now, as I am about to have by old BOAB set that's in the young bloke's D2 come available when he sells the Disco and replaces it with an Amorok. :D
A couple of small alterations to the BOAB set-up and it should do what I need in the D4.

I saw a photo somewhere of a stove bracket that hung off a RW Carrier.
Decided it was a great idea meaning I would not need to move the stove to either get into my drawers.
Simply made of 12mm ply and folds up flat:

Tailgate can be closed with the stove left in position, fridge fully extends out and drawers slide out under too.

A clamp holds it in place, the ply cantilevers out with a support under.
Slots in the ply stop to stove moving. Simple.

If you really want heaps of room, I've done a few D3's where I have removed the second row of seats and fitted a flat floor.
