After removing dash and some interior trim today I have found some serious rust holes in the bulkhead... Every other part of the perentie looks almost brand new which leads me to think they have been re-built from all different parts at some stage would this be correct? Secondly will a defender bulkhead be the same and fine for replacement or what can I use... Also does anyone have a rough estimate of cost for replacement if I get a workshop to do it for me as I don't have a lot of time at the moment and would like it done ready for summer??

Thanks in advance...

Hello,

I'm going to give this a try myself...

Just wanting to know if defender bulkhead is a straight swap or what modifications are needed? Any help at all would be very much appreciated.

Thank you very much...

A 110 county bulkhead fitted with an LT95 will fit. I believe later (5spd) bulkheads had some slight differences around the tunnel area - easy to modify though.

The bulkhead and door bottoms are usually the first to rust. Not surprising for it to look like new but have rust if it has been near salt water.

Firewall replacement is a BIG job. It would be very expensive to pay a workshop. How bad is yours? I would look at repairing in-situ first.

The Perenties have a 5 speed transmission tunnel/seat box fitted as standard and the hi/lo lever setup modified to suit but as isuzurover says a standard LT95 equipped 110 will have the same firewall. Just the adaptor from firewall to transmission tunnel is different. If you go this way move your adaptor to the new one - it will bolt straight up.
