Hey everyone! New to the forum and the land rover scene. I currently own a TB42 petrol/LPG GQ patrol and she's thirsty!
Looking at getting a 130 defender, just wondering the pros/cons of a landy, are they decent on fuel, what are they like power wise, are parts hard to source/ expensive (I live in SA) I'm looking at years 1995-2000 ish
Any info would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks a lot fellas!

The diesels will certainly be a lot more economical than your current chariot. My 300Tdi averages 10-11 l/100km.
Parts do not seem to be particularly expensive and are readily available.
Reliability depends on maintenance. Keep the maintenance up and you should not have particular unreliability issues.
Ignore the anti-LR propaganda from the Toyota brigade - they're just trying to justify their own decisions to pay the 'Toyota tax'.
Welcome to the fold.

^ what he said :D

Make sure you test a 130 out first as they are not for everybody. Some find the driving position a little too cramped. Others like it. I've had two defenders and like that they fetch higher prices than discoveries so I can buy a disco with all the fruit for half the price of the same year defender :D. All jokes aside, they are a good truck and if properly maintained will go forever.

:eek2: well there you go, a trading strategy fit for my superfund... :D jokes, you don't get financial advice here, except how much to spend on accessories

Just get a LR, defender or otherwise, compared to the patrol, its a step up.
