Anybody out there playing Halflife2 ????
I had a CD-Rom die on me before Christmas, (I have sent the drive back to the suppliers)
I tried to play HL2 today, (which was the disc in the drive when it stopped)
my other drive wouldnt accept the CD,, kept spitting it out.
Upon closer examination it appears the drive has "burnt" or somehow glazed the disc in parts.
I called Vivendi who distribute the game and , no, they dont carry spares, even for sale. The phone guy said "just burn a copy"
so,,,
does anyone have HL2?
and is willing to burn me a copy of DISC1 ??
all expenses paid for.

Sorry pedro, we dont have it in the shop, cause the online registration of the game when you buy it makes it impossible to rent out. Sorry mate. I am sure you might even have the same trouble with the a burnt one if you get someone to do it. Not really sure i have never played it, i only got the registration info second hand. What do you have to do when you get it do you just need a cd key and you are away, or do you need to log onto the website and register it? Let me know and i will see what i can do, some of the kids at school might have it. Matt

Sorry, don't have it yet. I could have downloaded it for you from suprnova, but the sight has gone west along with a lot of the BT websites.

have a lookeesee on the news groups... usually heaps to be had on the binary iso groups
a $10 sub on newshosting.com can be very good value at times...

I wonder if the delamination was caused by the spin speed of the CD?
There have been reports of CD's exploding under the centrifical forces.

The crew on the TV show mythbusters, on discovery channel looked into this, they found that the cd's were more prone to exploding or breaking up when they were hot. Matt

and most cd players run very hot.
i had one unit here that would open the tray without warning and a disc took off like a frisbee across the workshop ... fastest i ever seen my now ex tech's move style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif
