Hey guys, a mate of mine is considering buying a D4 and was quizzing me on them - I'm a bit out of touch due to having too much fun in my 13 year old D2 - so I started doing some reading and beside the power/torque figures, what is the fundermental difference between the two diesel engines?

Is he better off getting the TDV6 and remapping or is there more to it?
cheers

That depends on whether he's looking only at new or considering used vehicles too. My MY10's 180kw 3.0 is badged TDV6.

Here is a previous thread with all the details on it.

http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/201902-d4-3-0-motor-options.html

If the link doesn't work there is the the short version of the engines depending on what he wants weather new or second hand. The lower state of tune is only available in the base model once you got to the SE or HSE you get the higher state of tune 3.0L

Hope thats some help. They are an amazing car one drive and he will be sold any one who goes for a drive just instantly falls in love and wants one!!

Had the D3 2.7TD with a ECU upgrade then the stock D4 3.0TD.
Would never go back to the 2.7Lt.

Hi Chuck, what are you replacing the Disco with?

Chalk and cheese, twin sequential turbos on the 3 litre makes it a much improved engine over the single turbo on the 2.7 litre. I had a D3 2.7 for 6 years and it was no comparison to the 3 litre in general driveability in my 2011 RRS.
