That's the most unusual forward control I've seen, I think the person who has described it should have left "Forward Control" out of the description
Forward Controls do not have a bonnet area.

You guys only saw the obvious faults with the ad.
Wouldn't a 1970 be a series III? Two door? Looks to me like a four door.
Also appears to be the right pic, If you look carefully at the number plate you can see it looks to match the description.

It is a forward control. the steering wheel is forward, and the front wheels steer, therefore all the controlling items are forward. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

Perhaps the gearbox is shot and dosnt work in reverse, hence you can only control it going forwards OR the steering only works going forwards style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

With all these new vehicles being brought out by land rover how good would a new 101 be? It could rival the OKA as a tour vehicle. Now that would be good, alot of poeple are looking at those OKA's on the s/h market to kit out as touring/camper vehicles. Matt

The series 2A FC, on a 109 wheelbase. Civilian model, as picured in the link I posted.
The series 2B FC, on a 110 wheelbase. Civilian model, very similar to the one abovel
the 101 which is what we have a picture of above which was built soley for the military.

Land Rover's first forward control was based on the Series IIA's 109 inch chassis and was launched in 1962 in response to customers' demand for a greater pay load. But it was desperatelty underpowered untill 1966, when a 2.6lt 6 cylinder petrol engine replaced the 2.25 original. This necessitated lenghthening the chassis an inch and the revised model was called the Series IIB. It sold in small numbers untill it was discontinued in 1973. By then, a new foward control was in the pipeline, utilising the 3.5Lt V8 installed in the range rover. But this one was aimed squarely at the military market and would be known as the 101 Forward Control. Production began in 1975 and ended in 1978.
There is my little history lesson for the day. Matt
