View Full Version : How long is your stalk

1997 extended cab Defender - I have a hell of a time plugging the seat belt in the stalk. It is back and behind the seat almost unreachable.
I'm wondering if someone has put the wrong ones in or put them in the wrong place.

Can someone please tell me the length of their stalk and if there are different lengths available.

Thanks
Dave

In the photo below I've pulled it out so it is easier to see - normally you struggle to find it.

I'm still at work, so can't measure mine... but that doesn't look right. Admittedly my seat sits right back, but my stalk would have to be double the length of that.

That's what they all say !

Hmmmm...

In actual fact, my stalk is no longer than that.

It is, however, much wider.

But flatter.

From what I could see in darkness out there, it's a completely different mounting point and rod - flat steel on ours, which pivots a little in the fore-aft plane. The mounting point is much further forward than yours, however.

Our's is an '02, so perhaps some differences there.

It's the big bit on the end of the stalk that's more interesting, though.

I thought mine was longer, but it just started in a different place...

Still none the wiser - anyone got a photo of their mounting point?
I'm think it might be because the extended cab moved the mounting point further back.
Do you think I could use a seat mount bolt?

Bugger - I thought somebody else would have replied by now.

Conveniently, I have my cubby box currently removed, so I can take a good photo of my setup when I get home this afternoon for you.

Must be something to do with the extended cab modification. No idea why though.
